This from Karen Ryan and that remarkable Irish fiddle player: -

Brendan Mulkere - Rest in Peace - 28th August 2020

Such sad news that the legend of Irish music in London, Brendan Mulkere passed away in the early hours of this morning.
Brendan's all-consuming passion for traditional Irish music, his unfaltering determination to pass the culture on to the next generation and put Irish music on the London stage for the first time has left an indelible mark on London's cultural landscape.
His epic work over decades produced countless fabulous second generation traditional Irish musicians and brought a wide audience
to value and respect our music as much as any other genre in this city.

Deepest sympathies to Sharon, Claire, Sinéad, Collette, all of Brendan's family, friends
and to the huge number of his 'jellybabies' who will undoubtedly continue his legacy.

May he Rest in Peace.
Karen Ryan

I spotted the deathnotice on Clare.fm this morning.

It has beenb a sad few weeks, earlier we lost Lissycasey concertina player Gerald Haugh and fiddler and extraordinary tune composer John Dwyer.

I'm a bit late to post on this thread! It somehow slipped my attention. However, I knew of his death and was wondering whether I should start a thread. Sorry Vic, I should have trusted you! There is a good obituary in the Guardian. He was a very accomplished man and he will be greatly missed. My condolences go, as always, to all those who know and love him. He has his place in the "In Memoriam" thread. RIP
