Subject: Lyr Add: RBG wasn't a Philadelphia lawyer but... From: Mrrzy Date: 20 Sep 20 - 07:04 PM To the tune of Woody Guthrie's Philadelphia Lawyer; feel free to add verses. Mudelf feel free to correct spelling of Philadelphia in thread title, mwah. I would sing this Monday but it is too painful. Notorious by Mrrzy Way out in Reno, Nevada, All the way to the Washington halls They are mourning our Ruth Bader Ginsburg The jurist with most of the balls. Come, all, and we'll go a-walking Down where the flags are less hoist By the great old white Capitol building To the Court with her dissenting voice. She made it through several Presidents Some right and some left as was she Most white and one half, but they all did Respect her jurist's expertise She argued for feminist causes And championed the weak and the small The gays and the straights and the weirdoes Will all miss her step in that hall She stood up for all who were needful Till she could not stand up at all She argued against power mongers And took no steps back, nor did fall Now tonight in our beautiful country And wherever the long highway whines There's one less Washingtonian jurist In our Supreme Courthouse tonight. |
