Subject: Music party Invite in NY From: BobLusk Date: 07 Jan 00 - 11:52 PM Important Invitations ANNUAL MUSIC PARTY On Jan 29th, 2000, the Lusk family will have our Annual Mid-Winter Folk Music Party at 61 Wurts Street, Kingston, New York. It starts at 8:00 p.m. and runs until people leave, which is usually pretty late. It is a family affair though, and there are professional baby sitters on duty upstairs (better known as "kid's land") until midnight. All kinds of music and musicians are welcome, but no amplifiers please. It's not a big food party, (it's a music party!) but we have the basics - you won't go hungry - and you can bring a dish to share if you wish. Also, this is an open party, so feel free to spread the word. No illegal drugs please, although moderate alcohol use is fine. All smoking must take place outside. Call or e-mail for directions or other questions. WEEKLY FIDDLE N' FOLK JAM We've been having a jam session in Kingston for the past 4-5 years. It is always on Thursdays from 12-1 (lunch time). It's called the "Fiddle n' Folk Jam". Sometimes we actually have a fiddle with us! During the winter we have been meeting a music import store called "Anyone Can Whistle". They are closing on January 15th, so effective January 20th, we will start meeting at Abram's Music Store, down the block at 302 Wall Street. It is a small informal acoustic folk jam. Whoever shows, we play what we want. It is very eclectic and could on any one given day include American folk songs, old-tymey, irish, cajun, blues, beatles, pop, whatever. All acoustic instruments welcome. Feel free to call me for more information, directions, etc Thanks, Bob, Penny and Roberto Lusk 61 Wurts Street Kingston, NY 12401 (914)338-8587 boblusk@aol.com |
Subject: RE: BS: Music party Invite in NY From: Jon Freeman Date: 08 Jan 00 - 02:00 AM This is a first for me, actually seing somebody having the deceny to point out the rules regarding somiking at the time of the invite. I am a smoker (although I do not defend smoking) and have lost count of the numer of times I have been invited by people who know me only to be told "sorry no smoking in the house or whatever) and have left many as a result. I live in North Wales anyway so wouldn't be getting to NY but it is nice to know that some people at least do make the "rules" known before people make the effort to get there. Jon |
Subject: RE: BS: Music party Invite in NY From: Midchuck Date: 08 Jan 00 - 08:30 AM I have been at a major old-timey jam in Vermont, in midwinter, where there was a bedroom set aside for smoking dope, but people who wanted to smoke tobacco had to go outside in the cold. Another thing that I swear I am not making up. |
Subject: RE: BS: Music party Invite in NY From: bbc Date: 08 Jan 00 - 08:37 AM Hi, Bob, Thanks for the invite. Depending on weather (looks like most of our snow is expected in March!), Duane D. & I might very well like to join you. In the past, there didn't seem to be many folks in this area, but we'll see how it is now. We live in northernmost Westchester, but I work northeast in Dutchess & have become accustomed to driving. I'll be in touch. Take a glance at us in the Mudcat Resource pages, if you like. best & thanks again, bbc |
