Subject: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: The Sandman Date: 29 Sep 20 - 04:20 AM I find the use of the words Woke Nancy Boy offensive. I regard it as offensive as racist phraseology. If other members agree perhps they would add their support to this thread so that moderators might understand the strength of opinion on this matter. thankyou |
Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: Dave the Gnome Date: 29 Sep 20 - 04:51 AM Woke, Nancy Boy, Snowflake. All derogatory terms used by the right wing to describe what they see as weak or liberal traits. Just As those of the left use Fascist and Nazi to describe the right. All offensive to someone. The best advice has already been given by the moderation team. Don't feed the trolls. |

Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: The Sandman Date: 29 Sep 20 - 06:47 AM nancyboy (plural nancyboys) (slang, derogatory) Synonym of nancy: an effeminate man, especially an effeminate homosexual. Dave the dictionary definition is offensive term for gay people |
Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: Dave the Gnome Date: 29 Sep 20 - 07:24 AM I have no idea if it is or it isn't, Dick. My point still stands. Any phrase used in a derogatory manner is offensive to someone. The policy at Mudcat central is to ignore flame bait and trolling. I try, and often fail, to follow that. You choose to highlight it. Neither action is entirely right or wrong. Both have merits and downsides. Discussing how to conduct arguments is never likely to end well though. |
Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: Steve Shaw Date: 29 Sep 20 - 07:59 AM Offence is something you take. You have a choice. I'd worry far more about being lied about or misrepresented than about being offended (though both things can happen at the same time). |

Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: Bonzo3legs Date: 29 Sep 20 - 08:14 AM Let's see, ah yes better complain to ITV for including "Japs" in the Singapore Grip script, which is an excellent serial!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: Backwoodsman Date: 29 Sep 20 - 08:29 AM Just filling a short gap between making a blackberry cheesecake for tonight’s tea, and an hour’s practice on the Lowden. If that’s OK with you of course, Bonzo. |
Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: punkfolkrocker Date: 29 Sep 20 - 08:55 AM I can't be arsed being offended by mere words.. sticks and stones... However use of such words conveniently identifies the users as bigots to beware of.. Let these reactionary fukwits keep on outing themselves, by saying and writing such provocative vocabulary... |
Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: punkfolkrocker Date: 29 Sep 20 - 09:16 AM I'll add.. As much as I dislike and fear the rapidly growing normalisation of right wing bigotry, I also can't stand the rise of intolerant over-sensitive puritanical control-freaks taking over the left.. What a bunch of mean spirited miseries at both ends of the political spectrum... |
Subject: RE: BS: OFFENSIVE Phraseology From: Jeri Date: 29 Sep 20 - 09:31 AM I'm closing this, as it's just provocation. There are many offensive things said here. You have a choice to notice, then wave at them as they drift gradually into the past, or grab them by the throat and invite all your supposed friends to beat the shit out of them. Learn how to wave bye-bye. (You choose the number of fingers used.) |
