Subject: Tune Req: Can you help identify this Christmas Wes

I present a country music radio show which is streamed, so listeners tune in from around the world. One listener in Trinidad recalls hearing a popular record from the USA when he was a child around the early 1960s. He recalls the lyrics as something like:

The Indians and the white men were fighting over land
so the Indian chief spoke up and said I have a plan,
the white men are so many and my brave are so few,
I've talked to the great spirit and here's what we must do.
There's one night all the white men will go to sleep because,
they're expecting some great man they call Santa Claus,
he only visits once a year and that's on Christmas eve
and they say he gets in their houses through the chimney......

that's all he can remember of the song. Can anyone help identify the song and the singer please?

I can't find much that looks right. Perhaps Clinton Ford's "Red Indian Christmas Carol"?
