Hello, I'm looking to hear a version of a song (or at least find the lyric and/or tune) called 'Three Bunches of Black Ribbons', sung by Cassie Sheeran on a cassette produced in the 1980s by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland entitled 'Here Is A Health'.

I have heard a version of 'Three Bunches of Black Ribbons' sung by Lucy Stewart of Fetterangus, Aberdeenshire (it can be heard on the Tobar an Dualchais website). I'm interested to compare it with the version by Cassie Sheeran if possible.

Many thanks!

PS I think the song was in this instance collected from a traveller family (could be wrong on that), but it may be apt to seek out Jim Carroll and see what he knows about it. From some other reading, some/many of the stanzas are talen from other songs. It has a Roud number. Perhaps too someone with a Jstor account could locate the recording there. Good luck.

Thanks! Yes, I have Elizabeth Stewart's (Lucy Stewart's niece) great book. I'd forgotten about that note...
