Subject: Mariposa Folk Festival 1980's and 1990's
From: GUEST,Lin

I was on the Mariposa Folk Festival web site pages. I am trying to find list of ALL artists who performed on stage in the 1980's & 1990's.
There is a LOT of information at their web site of course, but as I searched for the list of performers I could see only the more well known artist's names.
Perhaps, they ONLY listed the more well known names and not all the artists.

Does anyone know how I can find all the artists who played each year during the 1980's and 1990's?

Perhaps I missed something during my search on their web site.
If anyone knows for a fact, if everyone who performed was listed on their archived pages or ONLY the more well recognized names every year and maybe NOT every single ARTIST who played on stage.

Lin,

It's not clear what pages on the Mariposa web site are the subject of your question. There are some very brief historic sketches on pages such as https://mariposafolk.com/our-stories/strange-brew-85-90/, and there are links to a York University web site which seems to go only as late as 1981. Those list so few performers that I can't imagine you'd think the list was complete.

If you can give us Mudcatters some more specific links, then perhaps one of us can look at the pages, write "I'm sure that's incomplete", and provide an example of a missing name. That won't be the answer you want, but it may at least support your suspicion that what you want isn't on the web already.

I'm sure with a newspapers.com subscription you could find more complete lists (though possibly still with some holes) but, with all due respect, that's a rather large task for someone else to do. I'm not aware of a more complete existing list elsewhere.

did the festival have a "program booklet" ?? that should have
complete listings, and newspaper adverts or reviews
usually listed many performers.

There are a number of recordings of Mariposa performances on LP
from 1975 and 1076.

a 2002 CD lists:
"Members of Swamperella
Lady Luscious (from Woman Ah Run Tings)
Nancy White
Bob Snider
Spirit Wind
Dave Clarke (from Steel Rail)
Serena Ryder
Jenny Whiteley
and more"

Thomas.

To Cnd
With all due respect, I DID NOT ASK FOR someone to do any large task!

Geez, I was just asking if anyone knew how "I" can find the all the artist's who played there during the 1980's and 1990's.

Didn't ask for anyone to do any task.

Please reread my post! Did not even imply for someone to "undertake a large task" for me.

Yeah, but many of us are really eager to work together with you on stuff. It's a good thing. We like you. Well, maybe you're not the same Lin that we like, but that's OK.

Yes, it was clear that you were just asking "if anyone knows".

Lin,

What you asked, in part, was "If anyone knows for a fact, if everyone who performed was listed on their archived pages ..."

Speaking only for myself, I can't answer that question unless I know what archived pages you're talking about. If I can look at one or two of those pages, I might be able to quickly say "yes, that looks complete" or "no, that's missing a lot of names".

Looking at a page for which you provide the URL is a small task. Trying to find the page myself is a large task.

Sorry Lin, I guess I could have been clearer in my original message.

I tend to try and help people out and do some research for them (for examples, you can see the recent slide banjo thread for one example).

Sorry again for the offense I've caused you.

However, I will comment that your focus on my response rather than the people such as Howard who are attempting to help you seems rather unproductive
