Googled him. Apparently, he's British. I can't find a clip of him on the show, but there's a nice version of Star of the County Down, with a resonator guitar on line.

I wasn't consumed with hatred for Carter Rubin. I just really, really didn't want to listen to any more of it.

I didn't see him on the programme but Joe Topping is a well respected folk musician in the UK and has appeared at the Topic Folk Club in the past as well as many other clubs and festivals. I imagine he is trying to make the best of the current circumstances where touring is not practical. Good luck to him!

I've seen two former contestants here who've done house concerts and smaller venues. I'm not entirely sure life isn't better for them when they don't win.

Yes I looked for Joe Topping on playback ~ he was first on ~ he sang and accompanied himself on guitar

He is an accomplished singer songwriter in the UK and really of the folkie style performers

Inspired by Sally Barker, I had a go several years ago. Lots of waiting around and queueing, but I had a brilliant day! The auditions were done so supportively and the adjudicators were lovely. (Not like X Factor, or so I believe). Made it through the first round, but not the second, so never got on the telly. Hey ho. Never mind.

I believe they’re different shows, Joe. That would account for Jeri’s confusion over Joe Topping (who is a well known folk artist here in the UK).

Just watched Saturday's episode on Catch up ~ duos and trios even ~ round 2 The Voice is on ITV and only clips on BBC Iplayer btw

The US version looks to be totally different

Joe, they're different shows. The Voice is on in the US, the UK, Australia, and quite a few other countries.

The one being discussed is the UK variant. The US one is done for now, after Carter Rubin won it in 2020. I've had the opportunity of seeing two former competitors at house concerts. I think having been on the show helps with people's careers.

The Voice of Holland, also known as TVOH, is a Dutch reality television competition, created by John de Mol, airing on RTL 4. For the first nine seasons, The Voice of Holland have been hosted by Martijn Krabbé and Wendy van Dijk. In the tenth season (2019–2020), Wendy van Dijk is replaced by Chantal Janzen.

Looks like Holland can claim to be the format creators

Sorry to see Joe never made the final but we'll done for trying. Anyone interested in watching more of him check out the Swan Song Project podcast, songs for bereavement, Joe wrote a song for his mother called Throw me to the wind, sings it with the rest of his Elbow Jane band mates as support, incredible song showing an incredible talent.

Hmmm... for what it's worth, I thought the choice was between Joe and the rapper. I really thought the duo was the least good of the three.
