Subject: Lyr Req: Macaroni Song? WW11 From: Raggytash Date: 05 Feb 21 - 12:51 PM I'm trying to find a song for someone, Her Dad used to sing and it may come from WW11. The words she know include: Oh I'm poor and all alone without a place to call my own ..... I'd be thankful if you'd only give me a handful of Macaroni..... And when the soldiers go to war they know what they are fighting for .......... Thanks in anticipation. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Macaroni Song? WW11 From: GUEST,# Date: 06 Feb 21 - 10:14 AM I searched Mr Google to no avail. The mention of macaroni (Mr Kraft sold lots of their Mac and Cheese in the Second World War) offered some hope, but it gets lost in the clutter of 'macaroni' in its non-food use (stuck a feather in his cap, etc). It might be worthwhile to get back to your requester and see if any other pieces of verse come to her memory. I think there is insufficient info to locate the song. I do however suspect the dad may have made a few lines up, and coupled with a memory that's perhaps become a bit vague over time, well, chances aren't too good in terms of locating the song. Sorry I can't be of help. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Macaroni Song? WW11 From: GUEST Date: 06 Feb 21 - 08:35 PM Place the fourth line of your verse in quaotation marks. Submit it to YANDEX dot Com (It is the Russian equal of the Big G) Warning - the results are not safe for work - the lyrics would make a rugby team blush and hang their heads in shame. A good social micro-cosim of why Russia is where it is today. |
