A traditional song sung by Arthur Cormack. According to Aros - Dualchas An Eilein cd it was composed by a MacLachan

I don't know what happened. I saw information about poet Eachann Mac Fhionnghain in the lower right hand side of the page when I looked up this song on the BBC Bliadhna nan Órain site earlier but now it's gone and no author is credited. Perhaps I had migrated to another page, another song, without realising it?

Eachainn Mac Fhionghain was BORN in Berneray in 1886 so he didn't write any songs until later. How I long for an edit key! As stated above he is credited with authorship of Fhir a Shiùbhlas Fada Tuath, NOT Fhir a Shiùbhlas na Frithe (which BBC Bliadhna nan Órain" says has no known author.

Perhaps the MacLachlan mentioned earlier was John Mac Lachlan, author or compiler of the book "Dáin Agus Órain" (poems and songs)and similar works
