Subject: Obit: Sad News - Jan Ayres (Waltham Abbey)
From: Billy Suggers
Date: 01 Apr 21 - 09:03 AM

So very sad to report that Jan passed away yesterday after a fairly brief illness.
Performers and audience at Waltham Abbey will know Jan as a kind, welcoming host, a great organiser and a true folkie.

To say that Jan was made of the original & genuine folk club stuff would be an understatement.
As it would be to say that she will be gravely missed.

Sad new indeed. I played Waltham Abbey folk club a couple of times and also the club's "Awayday" weekends, one near a lake somewhere in Kent and one in Epping Forest. Great times!
Jan was a one off, bright, cheerful and as said, a great organiser. Freddo and I will miss her. Our condolences to her family and friends.
Jon.

That's sad to hear. Getting back to Waltham Abbey again is one of the things to look forward to when this bloody plague is over, and Jan was an important part of that.

Very fond memories of song poetry and laughter from Sussex Song and Ale. One of the best, RIP Jan!

I was so very sorry to hear of Jan's passing, only heard recently that she had gone into a hospice. She was very encouraging in the Folk Family and made a difference. RIP Jan

I never got to meet Jan, sadly. One of those things that never happened. It is always a great loss when a good club organiser passes on and clearly she was one of the best. I have added her name to the "In Memoriam" thread and send my condolences to all those who know and love her.
RIP

I am so sad to hear about Jan. I first knew her at
Slimming World and then at the Folk Club, it was a
pleasure to have known her.
Will miss her lots!
