Is it a foksong!? Well, perhaps not. It was performed by Cliff Richard I think, and I have been unable to track down the lyrics.

It was one of Cliff Richard's first hit songs - early 60's - he still had the Shadows as his band

That's all I can remember - it's amazing that I remember that much from 35 years ago!
