Subject: Do you listen to Trio Mandili? From: Felipa Date: 30 Jun 21 - 07:15 PM One of my musical "discoveries" during lockdown is a group of young women from Georgia (the one bordered by Russia, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan). http://triomandili.com/. I don't understand their language, but can often find translations of the lyrics either in comments on youtube or at the lyricstranslate.com website. I love their sound and they are delightful to watch. I much prefer seeing them looking quite naturally pretty than all costumed and made up as in the concert photographs at the top of their webpage. The Russian group Beloe Zlato has a similar style of presentation and somewhat more elaborate singing. And for the first time tonight, I heard another Georgian group Trio Lavdila, which I read is made up of former membersof Trio Mandili. So far I am still a Mandili devotee! |

Subject: RE: do you listen to Trio Mandili? From: Felipa Date: 01 Jul 21 - 09:13 AM thanks for the heads up, Jack. I think Sathanao's arrangements are richer, more sophisticated than Mandili. It's looking to me like 'most everyone in Georgia sings, and does great harmonies. |
