There's a new film coming out about traditional folk music, folk culture, and how they're thriving in 2022. It'll be shown at Kings Place in London, and is already doing the rounds of the festivals. Thought some Mudcat readers might be interested.

More info here.

Which Appalachian folk band was it that moved to Sussex? I would be interested to hear them. I know that some have been here buy didn't know that any of them took up residence.

Hootenanny, I suspect the band was PLAYING Appalachian folk music, rather than BEING a folk music band from Appalachia, but I've been wrong before, and will be again...

"They met playing in Appalachian folk bands in Sussex, and now they do something that’s very much not folk, but it’s there in their roots."

"A new film about traditional folk music" featuring "something that's very much not folk" ???????

Sounds like something that might have been dreamed up recently at Cecil Sharp House.
