Just been watching the 1956 film "Prize of Gold" set in divided post-war Berlin. At about the 14 minute mark, a children's choir sing a folk song. I really cant identify it. Sounds something like "Es zu farbre farbre farbre, oh Marie, Marie, Marie" (just quoting what I can hear)- one of the kiddies is miming the shape of a house (which might be a clue) If anyone would take a quick listen, I'd be grateful

To me as a German, it does not sound German at all.
My guess is Spanish or Portuguese.

In wikipedia for A Prize of Gold it says: "Maria is trying to take the children to Brazil"

Brazil would point to Portuguese

In Imdb it says " trying to raise enough money to move a group of German orphans to South America"

That would either be Portuguese (Brazil) or Spanish (rest of South America).

Maybe Maria tries to teach the children the language of their planned home using songs ...

Ask a few Brazillions? Have you enough time left in your life?

...Oops, sorry, was confusing you with Dubya there... ;-)

Great - searched and searched - found it on a Brazilian Children's songs page. It's "Eu Sou Pobre" (I'm so poor) a Portugese children's action song
