Subject: Lyr Add: Moonshine Hollow Band From: cnd Date: 21 Feb 23 - 07:52 PM Not a lot of info out there on this song. The only recording out there is by the Georgia Yellow Hammers, who credited the song to Charles E. Moody, the group's banjo player, among other responsibilities. It seems to be their own composition. Below is my transcription of the lyrics. Listen for yourself here. MOONSHINE HOLLOW BAND (as performed by the GEORGIA YELLOW HAMMERS) Here comes that Moonshine Hollow Band Raising a mighty heap of sound Playing their fiddles and old banjo That good old song I used to know [Instrumental break to the tune of "Dixie"] They're stopping now to take a drink Look how their eyelids blink, blink, blink Lazarus now rosins up his bow To play some tune I used to know [Instrumental break; briefly "Rosin the Beau", then the tune of song] Fiddles and banjos stay in tune Guitars and ukuleles croon Playing that song of long ago Those darkies sing so soft and low [Instrumental break to the tune of "Yankee Doodle"] "Moonshine Hollow Band" - as Georgia Yellow Hammers Vi 21626 [41925] rec. 21 Feb 1928 |
