I was wondering if anyone knows the real name of the artist "The Swamp Boogie Queen". She was famous for her two fisted piano style and died September 5, 1999 of a heart attack. I also need to know who recorded her?

Her name is Katie Webster. She was once referred to as 'The Texas Boogie Queen' or '200 pounds of Joy', but I note that she later became 'The Swamp Boogie Queen'. CDNOW has about 5 of her albums available, including one titled 'Swamp Boogie Queen'.

Stewie.

I never heard of the "Swamp Boogie Queen", so this is a bit of a reach, but it brings to mind Marcia Ball. She's a New Orleans pianist/singer with a vigorous style. I've heard her referred to as "Long Tall Marcia Ball" and the "Red Hot Tamale Baby" (or something like that). I could see her music being called swamp boogie due to the New Orleans setting and her technique. If it is indeed she, I'm sorry to hear we've lost her. Sorry I have no idea what record label she was on.

Well, of course Stewie's post wasn't up when I was posting. I defer to someone who obviously knows the answer.
