Watching The Big Country again on TV. Poor old Buck - Burl Ives for a Dad. I bet that dum ching business lies behind a lot of his developmental problems and maladjusted behaviour.

Big Al -

Please elaborate.

I do not watch movies ... personal reasons.

"his"- Who?

"dum ching business"

"developmental problems"

"maladjusted behavior"

"Buck"?

.....

Big Al ... I sincerely respect you, and your wisdom, talented contributions.

.....

I refuse to view this video.
Cut to the chase !
What is your issue?

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

I suspect its a generational thing.
1) Burl Ives was an American actor/folksinger.
2) During the early 1960's when folk was a buzzword - you could have sold a dog turd with 'folk' on the box. During theis time Burl brought out a , 'how to play folk guitar' type book.   with folk songs. and suggested guitar accompaniment:
dum (bass string) followed by ching! (the treblier strings strummed)
or dum ching ching (waltz time!)
3) Burl was a great actor and he wasin the Big Country. A film about a patriarchal rancher and his bad boy son. Gregory Peck is the goody.

Gargoyle don't believe in false prophets like myself. I am infact extraordinarily clueless and a bad example to everybody. Try to follow someone more like Gregory Peck.

Not only was Burl Ives in "The Big Country", he won an Oscar for his performance.

Poor old Buck never had a chance. He was all folked up but he got what he deserved for his attempted violation of the beautiful Jean Simmons.

Absolutely I was just watching her in Elmer Gantry. Great film. Wonderful spirituals!.....I don't suppose would have got on with Sister Sara either.
