Subject: Obit: Michael Bracken (Brakn on here) From: Dave the Gnome Date: 21 Sep 23 - 05:51 PM Sad news picked up on Facebook from his son, Joseph. "Yesterday morning I lost my best friend and dad Michael Bracken. The best dad I could’ve asked for, he was thoughtful, creative, fascinating and fierce when he wanted to be. I’ll bitterly miss our long talks about anything and everything passing on 70 years of knowledge and wisdom, our awaydays following Blackburn and you nagging me to be the best version of myself. It was our little mission over the years to visit the 92 stadiums in the football league and we gave it a good go and made it to 51. He enriched so many peoples lives with his knowledge, humour and talent. I know many others will miss him and feel the same emptiness that I’m feeling now. Goodnight Dad, I love you and I’ll really miss you :’)" I met Michael on here and a few times at Swinton. He really was a lovely man and although I have not seen him in a long time and he has not been on here for a few years, I will miss him. Rest in peace, Michael. |

Subject: RE: 2023 Obit: Michael Bracken (Brakn on here) From: Waddon Pete Date: 27 Sep 23 - 10:42 AM I confess to being a little surprised that the death of Michael Bracken (Mudcatter Brakn) has not been more widely noted on here. He posted since 2011 according to Dave the Gnome's listing and had many contributions to make to our discussions. Let's hear it for Brakn! I am sending my condolences to all those who know and love him. I have also added his name to the "In Memoriam" thread. RIP Michael. |

Subject: RE: 2023 Obit: Michael Bracken (Brakn on here) From: John J Date: 09 Oct 23 - 03:34 PM Today I attended Brakn's funeral - I had no idea how many friends he had. The hall had seating for 200+, it was standing room only. His family spoke at great length of Michael's wonderful life - I really don't know how they held it together, they were just so eloquent. I, along with friends Rachel and Howard, were honoured and more than delighted to be asked play 'Off to California' as Michael was brought in. I still can't believe that this wonderful man has been taken from us - it was far too early. Godspeed Brakn - you've left an indelible mark on the lives of so many, to say you'll be missed is an understatement. |
