Side note: I found the Wiktionary definition of lang may yer lum reek most enlightening. Now I'm wondering if there's a similar no-it-ain't-an-insult explanation to "your breath reeks" in one of Shakespeare's sonnets, which Ben Elton had much fun with in one episode of Upstart Crow .... but I digress.
