Loved the Guitar Man when I was a teenager. Got my first electric guitar, but I couldn't make it sound like him. RIP

Probably the first electric guitarist I was ever aware of. Hearing him on those low strings rocked my young world. I even got a Gretsch with a Bigsby when I was in my teens because of that sound. RIP Rebel Rouser.

Mr. Eddy was known for that "Twangy" guitar but also recieved praise for his blues playing, even jamming on stage with B.B. King, and could play thumbstyle a la Merle Travis.

loved his playing back when I was starting out, I stole both of his licks. I bought his 2 CD box set a few years ago and still listen to it from time to time, great stuff.

RIP Duane.

"Because They're Young" was used as the theme music for Kent Walton's late show on Radio Luxembourg and many a night spent with the transistor under the pillow until I fell asleep. Encouraged many of us to take up the guitar.

Haven't thought of that song for over fifty years, but this thread brought it all back. When I was at teacher training college in 1973 a couple of people in the union bar obsessively played it on the jukebox (three songs for 10p), along with one other, Simon and Garfunkel, "America." There was nothing worse in those days than knowing that you'd run out of ciggies an hour ago...

We loved Duane because his tunes were easy to play, but still sounded cool.
