Is it just me or is everyone seeing all threads in descending order whether you click d or not?

Not only that, we seem to have lost the ability to sort them the opposite way.

If you are adding a reply in the box at the bottom of the page, the post you are replying to will, most likely, be at the top of the page instead of being the last one above the box - not very convenient if you are trying to make sure that your reply covers all the relevant points, especially if the page contains 40+ posts.

I suspect that this is an "improvement" by someone who likes to see newest posts first, assuming that everyone else does too.

On very active threads, I often find that there are a number of long posts to catch up on since my last visit. Having to scroll down as I am reading the first post I have missed, then scroll up past two posts to get to the top of the next one, and then repeat this whole palaver for each subsequent post, is a right pain.

I don't mind threads opening as sorted descending, so long as I can select 'sort ascending' when it suits.

Also, if you are looking for some specific information in a long thread, opening the whole thread allowed a search to be done using the browser 'find in page' feature. If the thread can only viewed one page a time, multiple searches are required to achieve the same result.

And while some reforms seem to be on their way, may I propose that in the list of threads not only the time of the last post of each thread is given, but also the time of the first post.

Until it's fixed you can use 'Printer Friendly' at the top to see the thread in date-time order. No index of posts or reply box there, however.

Main list is newest first.

Inside a thread newest is first.

Reply box at the bottom.

No way to change order.

Actually, 'sort ascending' is now working so you CAN change the order of posts within a thread.
