I just made a cup of tea, it was indeed an unfortunate cup of tea, somehow a slug had got in.I dont know about digusting seagulls but i think slugs are disgusting.

This is a True story...I have been to the Cheese Museum at Hawes and read it myself.... "We went to the Wensleydale Cheese factory last week and in their museum I noticed that slugs used to be boiled and the liquid strained off and bottled to be used as rennet to make cheese, at a time of year when they hadn't any calves stomachs - the slug solution has apparently the same enzymes. It said that the cheese tasted just as good.

Anyone into cheese making want to try it?"

The US Pacific Northwest is noted for its large variety of and large-sized slugs; I'm sure I heard a few songs about them growing up. Too bad Bob Nelson (Deckman) is gone, he would have several to offer.

To respond to the original question, the most obvious example of a slug song is "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" -- a New Zealand version has "Little boys are made of slugs and snails."

"You Can't Ride In My Little Red Wagon" may have the chorus "Slug, slug, slug, slug, slug," though it's not clear if that's the invertebrate or the verb for hitting someone.

I first came across it without the tune and assumed it went to "The Rising of the Moon" - it doesn't but both work.

I seem to remember a beautifully illustrated children's book from the 1970s titled "Slugs Is Slugs." I'm also remembering that it had a very scary ending...

I wrote a song about slugs. Maybe I’ll pop it on here when I get back home. It was inspired, if that’s not too grand a word, by our experience in moving from the desert-like conditions of South Yorkshire to the more fertile lands of the West Midlands, where the garden pests grew to an enormous size. The tune was taken from Gary and Vera Aspey’s setting of Cicely Fox Smith’s “From the North”, so I originally called it “From the heart”. We now call it The Warwickshire Slug-hunting song, or just Slug.

A friend of mine who sometimes does concerts for kids loves to sing a song titled "The Banana Slug Song".

I always forget to ask for the lyrics, all I remember is the chorus which goes: "Oh, banana nana nana nana nana nana nana nana nana nana nana nana SLUG!"

The verses are from the POV of a banana slug telling you about all his/her lovely qualities.
