I just saw this in a newslist I subscribe to and thought Mudders would like to watch for this on their local radio. (Canada and US at least)

TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR NOVA SCOTIA KITCHEN PARTY

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Monday January 24, 2000 - Pier 21 will be hopping when some of the most well-known names in Maritime and international celtic music hit the stage for the Nova Scotia Kitchen Party. Tickets are now available for the 11-week music series featuring The Barra MacNeils, Natalie MacMaster, The Ennis Sisters, Richard Wood, Mary Jane Lamond, Gordie Sampson, The Fables, Buddy MacMaster, Felix & Formanger, Dave MacIsaac, Jon Goodman, and from Scotland, Battlefield Band, and Archie Fisher. Many other performers will be announced later. Hosting the series will be Max MacDonald, the popular Cape Breton musician and comedian. Each show will also feature a "Minnie Session" with guitarist Scott Macmillan and specials guests. Performances will take place on Saturday afternoons at Pier 21 in Halifax, starting February 19.

This music series will air on CBC Radio One and will be the first weekly live music/variety series broadcast in Canada since Don Messer and The Islanders 50 years ago. The Kitchen Party gets underway at Pier 21 at 3:00 p.m. with the rest of Canada joining via CBC Radio at 4:05 p.m. The broadcasts will also be carried on Public Radio in the United States, Caribbean and Latin America, and in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East on satellite and over the Internet in RealAudio.

The Nova Scotia Kitchen Party is produced by Mike LaLeune of East Coast Arts Productions in partnership with CBC Radio and with major support from the Celebrate Our Music program of the Canada/Nova Scotia COOPERATION Agreement on Economic Diversification. The Agreement is managed by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Nova Scotia Economic Development.

Maritime musicians are world-renowned for producing great music, said the Honourable Bernie Boudreau, Leader of the Government in the Senate and Minister responsible for Nova Scotia, on behalf of George Baker, Secretary of State for ACOA. Broadcasting the Kitchen Party live around the world via radio and the Internet will surely strengthen this image. As well, it will enable our musicians to further develop their rapport with international audiences and markets.

Economic Development Minister Gordon Balser noted that the provinces music industry is an important economic driver. Nova Scotia talent and determination have built a thriving music industry that not only provides jobs for musicians and a long list of behind the scenes people, but also increases our export revenues and draws tourists to our province, he said. By investing in the Nova Scotia Kitchen Party, were helping the industry to continue growing its profile in export markets while contributing to Nova Scotias economy.

Tickets for the Nova Scotia Kitchen Party are available through the Metro Centre Box Office (902-451-1221) and all regular Sobeys Ticket Outlets. Tickets are $15 plus applicable service charges. As capacity is limited, patrons are encouraged to get their tickets early for all performances.

Corporate sponsors for this series are Air Canada/Air Nova, Westin Nova Scotian, Royal Bank Financial Group, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Daily News.
