I need help with the quote "Play it Steve". Where does it come from (I know it's Blues, but more detail) and who said it.

Blues Brothers used to cover Soul Man as well, right down to the "play it Steve" comment, since Cropper was in the back-up group.

Spot on, Lonesome EJ! Cropper was with both Sam and Dave and the Blues Brothers. He also played guitar for Otis Redding's post-mortum hit "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay". I used to want to be Steve Cropper (before his BS & T days).
