Subject: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Barbara Shaw Date: 06 Feb 00 - 09:54 PM Hi Rick, I read in the Branford Folk Music Society newsletter that you will be performing in Branford on April 8. We're hoping to get to the concert, but my husband's church has it's annual theme dinner that night, and we are committed to hosting a table. We usually perform at the dinner, too, but so far it looks like we're getting the year off. Anyway, I just want you to know that I'm going to try like hell to get out of the dinner as early as possible and get to your concert before the last note! Any mudcatters within driving range are hereby notified of the event... P.S. Break a string.

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Little Neophyte Date: 06 Feb 00 - 10:25 PM Barbara, I've got an idea. Why don't you make a live size dummy kind of doll, dress her in your clothing with a big hat the would disguise much of the dummy's face. Then 1/2 way through the dinner, while everyone is focused on the performance, prop the dummy up on a chair somewhere in the corner like she has had way too much to drink. Mr. Shaw can give excuses and explain how it is difficult for you to hold your liquor these days. Meanwhile, you would be on your way to Branford in time to easily catch Rick's entire last set. Just a thought, BB |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: bbc Date: 07 Feb 00 - 12:02 PM Rick, Have you firmed up other appearances this spring? I was kind of hoping you & Heather would be staying w/ us sometime. The Branford concert conflicts w/ one of David's 3 performances of his latest musical, so we'll have to see. I would sure love to see & hear you in person! best, bbc |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Pelrad Date: 07 Feb 00 - 09:50 PM Rick, What's the North Stonington gig? Is that firmed up at all? It's almost two hours closer to me than the Branford gig, but if you're not so sure about N. Stonington then I will hold the Branford date aside. :-) |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Rick Fielding Date: 07 Feb 00 - 10:59 PM Hi. Just got back from the radio show, and by the way..When you hear Sam Baardman yer gonna love him. He's from Winnipeg, is a fine songwriter, great picker, good voice and seriously nice guy. This has been a good couple of weeks for me with singer-songwriters: First, our own Liam Devlin, and now, Sam. The North Stonington concert is firmed up. (It's a great venue). I guess details are on the website. I'll get Heather to check this out in the morning. We're really hoping to meet a few Catters on this trip but it's going to be a pretty short one. Thanks folks, I appreciate the interest. Rick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Barbara Shaw Date: 28 Mar 00 - 07:40 AM Bringing this back up to remind folks of the Branford concert on April 8. Here's the e-mail address of the Branford Folk Music Society, in case there are questions about tickets: branfordfolk@yahoo.com |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Sandy Paton Date: 28 Mar 00 - 06:36 PM The Stonington gig is fantastic, but you MUST make an early reservation. You see, the gig includes a fabulous dinner at the intermission - filet mignon, shrimp cocktail, death by chocolate dessert, etc., and the seating is limited. Hope you can find the phone number on Rick's web page. This is the gig from heaven! Sandy |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Rick Fielding Date: 28 Mar 00 - 08:35 PM Just my luck if this time it's vegetarian! Rick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Mar 00 - 09:44 PM Oh, my guess is you'll get sick on all the rich food and have massive gas during your set Rick. That's something to think about of course.......and now you will. Yes, I'll be there in spirit as you think, "I never had gas like this in my life and it's Catspaw's fault." You'll be tempted to change the words of songs, like "This One's the Ripper." What's worse of course is that several 'Catters who will be in attendance will also read this and they'll be wondering if you're actually thinking about it and when you start with "This One's the Dreamer" THEY'LL be thinking "Ripper" and wonder if you are too. And possibly, even if you aren't thinking it at first, you'll remember this and wonder if they are thinking about whether or not YOU are thinking about it, which you weren't, except to wonder if they were thinking about you thinking about it. Probably best if you just don't eat. Have a fine time and a great performance, as I know you will.....unless you start thinking about whether they are thinking whether or not etc, etc, etc............Have you thought of Gas-X? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: canoer Date: 28 Mar 00 - 10:20 PM Hey Rick, some fixtures are for electric lights. Are you 110 or 220? *BG* But please be careful running the light fixture to the plumbing fixture ----- |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Rick Fielding Date: 29 Mar 00 - 11:02 AM The only time I was ever affected negatively (so to speak) by food was on my wedding day in Cambuslang Scotland. I (and my two best men) had eaten the hottest curry in the universe (medium by Scots' standards) the night before. Thank god it was a short ceremony. Rick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding in Branford, CT From: Barbara Shaw Date: 05 Apr 00 - 09:59 PM Bringing this up to the top again, so folks can get the directions. |
