Subject: Mickey Mouse Barrett's Privateers Parody From: GUEST,Chris H. Date: 11 Feb 00 - 03:38 PM In an old thread entitled "Self-righteous Prats" from a year or so ago, I came across mention of a parody of Barrett's Privateers with a chorus that went like: Gosh darn them all I was told we'd watch TV 'til we grew old The same old show, every year Now I'm a broken man with a pair of ears The last of Mickey's Mouseketeers The author of the parody, it was said, was Bob Pasquerello. Would any one have the full lyrics of this parody? Thanks, Chris Hoover |

Subject: Lyr Add: MICKEY'S MOUSEKETEERS (parody) From: Lucius Date: 12 Feb 00 - 07:27 PM What a guy Bob Pasquerello is. Here is his reply to my e-mail, in full. He has his own contra-dance band as well: "A Band named Bob". Catch them if you get the chance. Hi Lucius Yes, indeed I am one of the authors of that parody. John Krumm came up with the chorus and I filled in the details. Mike Agranoff has been singing it for years now, and that's the usual place people hear it first. Feel free to post this (with apologies to Stan Rogers) Here are the lyrics

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mickey Mouse Barrett's Privateers Pa From: InOBU Date: 14 Feb 00 - 08:13 AM BRILLIANT! How Appropriate. My sister in law asked me to change the words to that very song, as I was teaching my nephew to build modle boats, and about the eightenth century maritime, I told her I would never censor history, so I just did not sing it to him, great loss. When I was the kids age, my dad taught me some of my best truely filthy ballads, with an understanding of their historical place. I have to send Ann that version. Just brilliant. Larry |
