Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: Tony Burns Date: 18 Feb 00 - 04:15 PM I guess I should have mentioned that the broadcast will be available via RealAudio. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: Crowhugger Date: 18 Feb 00 - 06:15 PM Tony, Is that Radio 1 or 2? CH aka Betty-Val. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: DonMeixner Date: 18 Feb 00 - 07:09 PM Is this a short wave broadcast as well? |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: Crowhugger Date: 18 Feb 00 - 09:34 PM Don, I'll check out the CBC web site and see what I can find out. I haven't got blue-clickies in my skill set yet, but you can check it out at www.radio.cbc.ca I think that's it...I think I bookmarked it a long time ago, haven't been there in a while so I don't know if the URL has changed. I'll get back about it. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: Crowhugger Date: 18 Feb 00 - 09:44 PM Don, was I WRONG about the URL, right about it changing. Hope you're a good typist: http://www.infoculture.cbc.ca/archives/musop/musop_02182000_kitchenparty.phtml An easier way if you're good with overly colourful web sites (I sure hope I remember accurately what I clicked to get to the show's page) just put in infoculture.cbc.ca -- I don't think there was a "WWW" before it. *addled look on my face* From the Left-side menu bar, pick "Music and Opera" On the next screen pick "Programs" ... now my memory is fading but look for Kitchen Party to click and there's the page. I haven't read it yet; I wanted to jump in here with my correction. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: paddyc Date: 19 Feb 00 - 12:29 AM Tommy Makem will be on March 26 and it promises to be a good show. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 19 Feb 00 - 01:09 AM 1 - The show airs on Radio One in Canada, and on RCI - the Shortwave system. In the states a number of NPR stations will be carrying it, Boston & Kalamazoo are two names that I recall. Of course it will be broadcast on the internet for anyone outside of Radio Listening range. 2 - Tommy Makem is on March 26, Sunday, but I suspect it will air on the April 1st date, since no show is scheduled for that afternoon. Currently the shows are as follows: February 19 - Barra MacNeils, Archie Fisher and Dave MacIsaac Note also, this Saturday's program (today) will be broadcast LIVE to BBC Scotland as part of Archie Fisher's Traveling People series. Listen up this weekend. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 19 Feb 00 - 01:19 AM One last thing to note, the show is officially the "Nova Scotia Kitchen Party". I am SO going to love this series. Hey, you in the states, call or write to your local NPR station and ask if they are carrying this show! Canadians, please write to CBC to thank them for broadcasting the shows Other national sponsors of the series are Royal Bank Financial Group, Air Canada, Westin Hotels, and Ford Motor Co of Canada. I would encourage all of you to write or e-mail them to thank them for their support! Oh yeah, the shows start at 3PM, but the broadcast portion is to begin at 4:05PM Atlantic time, 8:05PM Scotland time, 3:05PM Eastern time, 12:05PM Pacific time. Enjoy! I know I will. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 20 Feb 00 - 01:48 PM Well, I hope many of you had a chance to listen to the program. Many of the e-mails they received, they read to the audience. The furthest away one was from Bob & Eileen MacDonald, friends of mine, who are in Kuwait. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: Willie-O Date: 20 Feb 00 - 02:09 PM Well, I wish they'd sent _you_ the e-mail George. I thought it was a great show but they wasted too much precious airtime reading boring messages! I mean we could have had at least four more tunes, or so it seemed...it was great to hear Archie and the Barras again. The latter are practically the senior successful Celtic band in the Maritimes now that the Rankins are no more, and Rawlins Cross disbanding, and best of all--they're sounding better than ever! Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: sophocleese Date: 20 Feb 00 - 02:25 PM We were driving to Toronto at the time of the show and used the time while the announcer was talking to try and find the better frequency. Gave up until I read it on a billboard in Toronto. I enjoyed what I heard and am hoping that next week I'll be able to listen to all of it without so much interruption. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 20 Feb 00 - 03:20 PM Good to hear you were listening. We NEED the audience response from people. The immediacy of the internet gives them feedback while they are online. |
Subject: RE: CBC Kitchen Party From: GUEST,flattop Date: 20 Feb 00 - 08:10 PM I'd like to hear Max sing a couple of song on each show. He has such a fine and unusual voice. |
