Subject: RE: Tune Req: Auld Plaid Shawl From: Mbo Date: 22 Feb 00 - 08:49 PM Well don't that beat all! The song in the Levy collection has lyrics by Francis Fahy, who wrote the poem "The Ould Plaid Shawl" that I put to music. But while the general subject and the title are the same, they are completely different. Maybe he wasn't so happy with his poem version and decided on a broad adaptation for the song version. Phew! My honor remains intact! And pssssst...my version is more fun to sing! --Mbo |
