Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Them Bonz Gonna Rise Again From: Metchosin Date: 26 Feb 00 - 03:56 AM Joe, Dese Bones is different from Dem Bones. *BG*
The tunes not the same
The chorus of Dese Bones that I sing, is slightly different than that in the DT, with some minor differences in the verses The verses are spoken with only "dese bones gonna rise again" and the chorus sung. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Them Bonz Gonna Rise Again From: Metchosin Date: 26 Feb 00 - 04:11 AM Actually now that I've listened more closely, the tune that I am familiar with is quite a bit different than either in the DT. Wouldn't call it exactly jazzy but more "Hallelujah!Shake it loose brother!" |

Subject: Lyr Add: MY BONES GONNA RISE AGAIN From: 12-stringer Date: 21 Oct 08 - 12:35 AM Could swear I've typed this in the past but can't find it in a cursory search, so, hot dog, let 'er go: My Bone's Gonna Rise Again as sung by Dave (McCarn) and Howard (Long), Victor 23577, recorded 19 May 1931 in Charlotte, NC. McCarn plays harmonica and guitar and undoubtedly composed the song, which would no longer be welcome at a church picnic. (chorus) I knowed it, knowed it, indeed I knowed it, sister I knowed it, knowed it, my bone's gonna rise again. I asked my gal to ride with me (My bone's gonna rise again) She got right upon my knee (My bone's gonna rise again) We had a big time that night till three (My bone's gonna rise again) But I never will be what I used to be (My bone's gonna rise again) Me and my wife went down to the lake We eat hot dogs and chocolate cake My wife sat down on a long black snake When she got up it was too darn late A hen and a rooster on the pole so hot A romping and a playing all in their lot The rooster looked at the hen's top knot "Come here, sister, let me see what you got" One day I went out to get A billy goat whose name was Pet And one day that goat I met Right on the place where I used to set [sic] |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Them Bonz Gonna Rise Again From: CupOfTea Date: 21 Oct 08 - 03:20 AM Yet another take - with re-written lyrics - is the title song of Margaret Nelson's last album These Bones. She's turned it into a dancable tribute to the body's ability to be recycleable. |
