somebody dropped of a bunch of recording equiptment, said it needed to all be set up and connected in time for the sunday night HearMe extravaganza. Anyone know anything about this? It's blocking the way to both the Jello pit and the bar!

Gotta get those drums to sound right--what!? Of course we need a drum set! How are we going to do the Pogues without that kickduff punk drumming!

well at least the bar is reasonably clear now, and the path to the men's room. Just made a batch of buttermilk pies according to the Catspaw recipe. anyone want to try one? I will warn you, they are addictive. I figured as long as you were all working so hard on this setup you might as well get fed.

(Keyboard whines up to high C in a wonky rendition of the opening bars of Highway 61 Revisited) Heavy bass auto boogiewoogie comin in from the synth, keyboard sliding and whining and sounding like a steel pipe on a railroad track while the boogie woogie comes up from underneath like a rolling boil of Cajun crayfish in a sundown pot...)

Mudcat Cafe Number 61

Oh God told Maxwell, "Build me a Site!"
Max says, "Chill, I been drinkin' all night"
God say, "Tough." Max  say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Max, but
Just don't come knocking at no Pearly Gate!"
Well Max says, "Just what d'ye want this site to say?"
God says, "Let's just call it Mudcat Cafe."

Well Old Man Spaw he had a bloody nose
Stuck in a ward with paper-towel clothes
He asked the doctors,  where can I go
Doctor  said there's only one place I know
Where they'll still love you, when you're old and gray...
Spaw sez, "Quick, man, show me the way!"
Doc says, "It's down at the Mudcate Cafe".

Well Rick the FIeld said to  Big Joe King,
I got forty second-hand folkies who cain't sing
And a ream of old Gibsons with broken strings
Do you know where I can get rid of these things?
And Big Joe  said let me think if there ain't some way...
And he hands old Rick a blue clicky piece of Cleigh
"Just take it all down to that Mudcate Cafe".

Now the fifteenth newbie on the fortieth thread
Said the jargon was gettin' stuck in her head
And the Songbook scansion was ruining her night!
So Troll said come here and step into the light... he says hmm
you're right
Let me tell the Gaelic Goddess, she'll make it all OK,
But the Gaelic Goddess, she was having her way
With a sad-eyed poet out at the Mudcat Cafe.

Dear Amos,

Would ye mind dedicating that special little ditty to the big fella? You know the one I mean, that strange strawberry blond fella hovering a few inches above the floor over there in corner, with the T-shirt that has his name on the back and the big Irish grin on his face . . .

My, Anyone up for a bit of the Oyster Band's The Old Dance? I'll tackle vocals if someone (Sorcha or Jeri where are you girls?) would get fiddle. Oh, and a Sam Adams to whet my whistle before I start wouldn't be amis.

Eve, said God, Listen to me Keep your hands off the apple tree Eve and Adam wondered why Made some cider and gave it a try God came back and he made a row Go and toil by the sweat of your brow The snake said to hell with the daily bread Taught 'em how to do the latest dance instead

It's the old dance and a crooked dance too When you step outside the law Play your tune on your damned old fiddle it'll burn you up like straw.

God drove up in a bkg black car Took a drag on a fat cigar Said break the law and you pay the price Out you go from paradise Stuck a sign on every tree This is private property The snake said Property is theft Never mind, there's always one thing left

It's the old dance. . . Rip out a fiddle break there girls!!

God sends thunder God sends hail chills and spills and bills in the mail Plagues on the sly and the innocent Frogs and boils and government Take your partner in your spite Try and dance all through the night With your hands all round What'll you do when the sky falls down

But the old dance . . .

The fiddles take over again.

Ahhhhhhh!

Little more gain on the fiddle here, gonna stick this fiddle under my chin, up steps Sorcha with a Guiness and Grin. Play a little hoe-down, drink a little rye, Go to the dance at the Session in the Sky ( A minor riff/slide from Ghost Riders) More beer for the fiddler!

Ah the power of the PA. It's a dangerous item, but boy is it FUN!! Ok, Ok, we can tone it down a bit. That's the other lovely thing about it though, you can just sing, nice and easy, and put all of that power into espression, rather than volume. We do a pretty hard hitting rendition of The Ploughboy Lads where I come from, good strong guitar beat, low, heavy fiddle, a bit of base and some drums and nice, strong, (but not overly loud) vocals.

Oh when I was naught but sweet sixteen With beauty charms a blooming It's little little did I think At nineteen I'd be grievin

Oh the ploughboy lads, they're all braw lads But they're false and they're deceiving Thay'll take your all and thay'll gang awa And leave the lassies grieving.

Ah another brilliant night of music. Time for a song and then to bed...

TEN THOUSAND MILES

O fare you well, my own true love, So fare you well for a while I'm going away, but I'm coming back If I go ten thousand miles

If I prove false to you, my love The earth may melt and burn The sea may freeze and the earth may burn If I no more return

Ten thousand miles, my own true love Ten thousand miles or more The rocks may melt and the seas may burn If I no more return

And who will shoe your pretty feet Or who will glove your hand Or who will kiss your red rosy cheek When I'm in the foreign land

My father will shoe my pretty little feet My mother will glove my hand And you can kiss my red, rosy cheek When you return again

O don't you see yon little turtle dove A-skipping from vine to vine A-mourning the loss of her own true love Just as I mourn for mine

Don't you see yon pretty little girl A-spinning on yonder wheel Ten thousand gay gold guineas would I give To feel just like she feels

Geez, I go out to practice my primal screams for a day, and the whole place moves! Sheesh! Ya gotta be quick to catch the 'Cat...

Sabra! Fellow denizen of the fabled land of Wizards, (Light) Winds, Munchkins, and Red Sequined Pumps! Greetings, hello, howdy, and hi y'all! Good to meet another "plainsperson." Can I stand ya to whatever potion you're imbibin' at the bar? (MMario, we're still puttin' it on Bert's tab, right?) and I'm stickin' to coffee this evenin', please, 'cause us self-employed nerdniks don't get to count this a day of rest, and I gotta go make money here in a little bit...

Now where'd I put those ear plugs? That reverb is killin' me...

Guess we didn't leave scream school behind when we jumped ... I don't do scream since a performance art workshop 12 years ago, where the teacher turned out to have a minor in scream school. really raunched out the voice. Not even for Screamin' Jay.

I'll move to the groove, tho' -- here in the virtual I can even dance to reggae again ...

Kui, please believe me, I couldn't help myself
I wanted to run but they gave me a gun
And told me the duty I owed to my father land
I made my sta-ya-ya-ya-yand~

Poor little Cleigh...he's so maligned. Don'tcha know he probably over at the auction, producing those little pellets by the handful so he can have his date with Max? He's been way too busy lately to put yellow in the Jello.

How does he dig/scratch/kick the Jello litter? I would think it would just PLOP/PLIP instead of co-operating and like the regular cat sand does?

Whyever would Cleigh use the jello pit? He has his own private area back in the garden, behind the second bush to the left. Well, he shares it with the flamingos, but as a longstanding patron of this establishment he KNOWS better then to use the pit.

Now, Cletus, Reg, Reg and Reg I could see, and gadonlyknows they probably have the capacity, but ... errrr..isn't the ....uhmmmm....consistancy ... so to speak ... a bit....uhh...thick?

There's a dispersal circuit in the main pre-amp, takes all the notions coming through and sprinkles them to the four winds, see, MM? It isn't you. Even Praise can't keep two thoughts together in this place, cuz of how MbO got that dispersal loop cranked up so high...

Call yourselves a recording studio? I sent in my proposal for a reworking of the William Tell Overture for kazoo and triangle and you tell me it's not commercial unless I look like Britney Spears (who?).
I might be prepared to shave my legs but I don't think 'er indoors would want me to have the implants.
