Are there any Mudcat festivals or anything where we can all get together for a weekend or so and share our music? I'm relatively new to mudcat and I'm not sure if anything like this goes on. If there is something, when and where? If not, is there an interest and how do we go about setting something up?

Thanks, Froodo, jeramia bullfrog, Baggins.

Check out the thread on the Getaway 2000. Someone also was setting up a Mudcat Calender. Gatherings may be there.

I don't know where you are, but the Getaway in DC here in the states drew about 30 'Catters last year. A few things conspired against me, even though I'd paid to go. This year the dates are not in the cards for me, but I expect a large group will again be there.

Bill Sables in England has quite a few folks show up at the "Jug" and annap has had a few gatherings at her home in New Jersey.

Depending on your location, the Old Songs Festival near Albany, NY in June will draw quite a few Mudcatters.

SF has a couple of times you can catch 'catters in the wild. Every Thursday at Quinn's Lighthouse in Oakland there's a few who show up for the evening show. I know that a couple also hit the Hyde St. Shanty sings the first Saturday of the month... Also, The Starry Plough (?) hosts shows with a catter or two in them...

Sadly, I'm not up there. But I've done my research for when I am...

"NEFFA will also have its share of Mudcatters. Wear your Tee shirts!"

Got no such thing. But I'll wear my AAFOUF hat as is my custom on such memorable occasions. That should suffice.

Peter.

Do any Mudcatters plan to be at Irish Week at the Augusta Heritage Center this July? I will be taking James Kelly's fiddle class and would be happy to meet up with any Cats who are there.

Are there any 'Catters in Central Indiana? I'm in Indianapolis, and would be happy to be in communication with any Hoosier 'Catters.
You could reply here or in my personal page or by regular email at doesterr@ameritech.net.

Sam, Bill or anyone, is the Whitby plan still on? I certainy wan't to get up there or the Jug and meet you all sometime in the future although, I also want to get to the US and can't afford both but US would take priority this year in the unlikely event that I can get there. May happen yet - have to start doing the lottery and win then I could make Oz and Canada as well...

This seems like a good place to invite all Mudcatters to the Midwest Sacred Harp Convention in Chicago, April 29th and 30th. All-day shapenote singing! Information is here
