Hello, I've been looking for the words of this song for a long time now and will not rest until I find them.I cannot remember the name of the song itself but hopefully with your help I'll find it.
Here goes.....
I left ould Ireland long ago
When I was scarce sixteen.....
..I thought I would return again.......
..But years went by..........
Now I'm dying in Amerikay
Far far from my native land.
I don't even know if this in itself was a verse, they are all the words I can think of so please hepl me out.
Please e-mail lyrics if you find them. Requestor still posts at Mudcat as of 2002.
-Joe Offer-
Is mise le meas, Treasa Ní Mhainín.

We've had several requests for the same song, apparently, although the words quoted vary somewhat:

one

two

(This is the third.)

four

My search turned up nothing.
