I've tried to contribute contstructively to a number of threads and would find it really useful if someone could tell me how to put the blue "links", (or to those of you who are technically minded the bule underlined clicky thing), into my replies.

Can anyone help me?

Yes, often (from me once too). I wish we had here a short 'posting instructions' help just explaining three things (covering about 99% of all questions).

(1) how to post a link

(2) how to make a line break (<br>)

(3) how to print in boldface (<b>) and to stop boldface (</b>)

Go see current HTML thread, sorry no time to clickie you there.

I did mine in Word, save as HTML, View Source Doc,. copy all including revealed HTML codes, paste in at 'Cat.

Lots more in HTML threads-- set the filter on HTML and look back, as well as at current thread

BTW you also can send practice messages to yourself on your personal page, if you're trying something really weird and want it done on the QT

Here's a time saver that you can copy and paste. I have a Mac, so I use notes that look like 3M sticky notes on the screen, but you can use whatever quick notebook software you have to save a bit of text. Type the basic html code you use for links to webpages or images and save them on your notepad. When you want to add a link, just open your note and copy and paste the basic code into your message, then copy and past the URL into the code. Not re-typing it every time helps to avoid errors.

bear in mind that specifying a font only works IF the receiving machine has the same font installed. I DO have the font "Mistral" that Praise used, and lots of newer ones will also, as I think it comes with newer Windows installations....but older machines, Macs, etc..may not see what you intended...in a few years, I suspect that there will be a standard set of 200-300 fonts on ALL machines

I am confused tho, I thought this very way of doing our HTML (via WP) was what had been so highly recommended in the HTML thread-- thought I was jes' doin' what we's sposed ta do....

If I remember correctly, the idea was to write it in your Word Processor, then use the REPLACE function to put <BR> at the ends of lines instead of line-feeds.

Otherwise you can save, in some of the modern word-processors, in HTML format. Then you CUT out the specific portion with the text you want, NOT the whole thing. IE- Only post the stuff between <BODY> and </BODY>

As someone above suggests don't change fonts since not everyone will have the fonts you are wanting to use.

My recommendation is to only use the THREE items listed earlier. We REALLY don't need to get too fancy.

Praise I do use a WP soetimes and occasionally FrontPage Express and OutlookExpress. There are things that these can generate to make a full page such as the HTML tag that MMax already suppies and as far as I understand it, te effects of thhe ones Joe mentioned in the middle of an HTML page are unpredictable and depend on the whim of a particular brwser - yours might work - mine might not cause (and I have been guilty of it) we are breaking what I believe to be the rules of the HTML standard in doing so.

My policy is to keep things simple but I have a pretty god idea what I need to copy and pase out of the types of programs I mentioned to make fairly efficient html (a lot of these set font instructions every line regardless of a change in font, etc)

Praise, don't be like that and I know very little about HTML and certainly would have to look at reference even to type a blue clicky thing out, I just know it is the bit between an opening angle bracket an A and the closing equivilant so just copy and paste.

I have however dabbled with programming languages such as C++, Pascal, Java and Delpi and I think that makes it pretty easy for me to work out (or make a reasonable guess at)what is doing what in HTML and maybe understand some of the structure.
