Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Girl from Iponema From: Chocolate Pi Date: 27 Mar 00 - 06:12 PM I had a somewhat bizzare exciting experience recently being sneaked into the Chicago House of Blues to see Astrud Ghilberto's concert there; my friend's cousin was in the band and had given us artist's passes to see him play, but then he found out it was an over-21 show ... so we followed him through the stage door (possibly looking disgustingly like fawning groupies), being introduced to the star herself on the way, and enjoyed the concert extremely. She had written and performed some of her own songs, which were, imho, just fine musically but disgustingly trite; "The Girl from Ipanema" was, of course, her show-stopper. Chocolate Pi (who was extremely proud to vote for the first time a few weeks ago) |
