Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Amos Date: 29 Mar 00 - 06:06 PM Netscape ignored the "title=" tag, but honored the earlier "window.status=" tag for the Yahoo link. Any ideas? Is it one of those Microsoft Vrs. Java and Everyone else issues? |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Margo Date: 29 Mar 00 - 06:09 PM Hey! I did it wrong. Do you actually use the quotes?? I'm going to try again... Jonathan and Gordy Maybe this will work? Margo |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Margo Date: 29 Mar 00 - 06:10 PM Hah! it worked!! Yay! Thanks for the lesson, teach. Margo |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: katlaughing Date: 29 Mar 00 - 06:11 PM Some of us used to use exact titles like that, then...I think we got lazy and just thoguht "blue clicky thingie" sounded funny and fun. Thanks for the reminder Hyperabid. It IS nice to know where one is clicking onto. kat |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 29 Mar 00 - 11:27 PM Then there are those of us out here in cyberspace who prefer to call them LINKS 'cause it's easier to type, doesn't sound childish, doesn't miss-type to "LICKY THINGY"!! LOL!!!! That, and it's what they are called... links...

Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Hyperabid Date: 30 Mar 00 - 03:31 AM So I guess the ultimate would be... <a href="http://www.yahoo.co.uk" title="The UK version of Yahoo" onMouseover="window.status='Click here for Yahoo!';return true" onMouseout="window.status=''">Yahoo UK</a> Hyp |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Billy the Bus Date: 30 Mar 00 - 03:59 AM Yeah, Once upon a time HTML used to be simple and non browser specific. Ultra cool now - half the time me browser has a hernia with java etc. Take me back to the days of "acoustic" HTML - v3 from memory. Oh, well, I'll relent...;) Couldn't be listening to MC Wireless then...;^) CYA - Sam |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: MudGuard Date: 30 Mar 00 - 04:49 AM Well the onMouseover... stuff only works if you have Javascript enabled. The "title" argument (which works, btw, with most tags - try putting your mouse pointer over the bold word) is HTML standard. But Netscape does not know it. MudGuard |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: MudGuard Date: 30 Mar 00 - 05:05 AM Margo, your first attempt did contain the following errors:

Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: MudGuard Date: 30 Mar 00 - 05:08 AM Uuuups, I messed up the message above (I do not have my usual editor here). Seems like I put <li> instead of </li> to the end of the list elements... Seems like I am not as perfect as I thought I am... ;-) MudGuard |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Hyperabid Date: 30 Mar 00 - 06:42 AM Try this one on for size:--
Nice try, Hyp, but I had to delete it because it was causing a script error. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Hyperabid Date: 30 Mar 00 - 08:48 AM Ooops I think I might have killed this thread with that last script...! Hyp |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 30 Mar 00 - 11:04 AM Hyp, is it your box that's causing the script error? LOL MudGuard, if the "formula" you listed in your first post is the exact way you plug in the items to create the "information tag", how come it didn't create the link in the post? (Or is it a secret?) :-) I copied and pasted that text line to an HTML doc for a website I work with and it worked--I thought there would be a space ir character that would need to be removed....interesting..... Fun stuff! Mary |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 30 Mar 00 - 11:16 AM To confirm...Is this the basic formula (without Javascript) and you plug in the info not in boldface???...I notice the space between the URL and the word 'title'.... Always looking to learn something new! Cheers, Mary |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 30 Mar 00 - 11:18 AM Ooops! I wanted the "formula to show, but I don't know the secret to keep it as text....so I guess I answered my own questions...LOL! |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Hyperabid Date: 31 Mar 00 - 03:16 AM Mary Hyp done got too big for his boots and messed up his script. Volunteers to sort it out gratefully received. Hyp |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: MudGuard Date: 03 Apr 00 - 06:49 AM SingsIrish Songs, sorry I was off the internet (there still is a live outside ;-) ) for some days. If I understand you correctly you ask how I could make the html code appear instead of its result. I do it by replacing the < and > characters by < and > which result in showing the angle brackets. HTH MudGuard |
Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 03 Apr 00 - 12:18 PM Thanks for the "secret" MudGuard. And isn't the outdoors amaaaazing!!!! I rediscovered it over the weekend myself! LOL Cheers, Mary |

Subject: RE: A cool blue clicky thing From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Sep 00 - 03:19 PM Depends on how your browser is set to display blue clickys, Morticia. Mine is set to display blue for links I haven't visited, and what I think is green for links that I HAVE visited. -Joe Color Blind- |
