Subject: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: Easy Rider Date: 14 Apr 00 - 09:29 AM My honey and I will be out in Salt Lake City, the last week in April, visiting her family. We may even drive up to Yellowstone and back.
Are there any Mudcatters out that way? We had such a good time in Oregon last Summer, meeting Margo and Mudjack and other Mudcatters, we'd like to do that again. If you don't want to post on this thread, send me Mudcat email. I'm a registered member. ( [=O=)===={:::} |
Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: katlaughing Date: 14 Apr 00 - 10:42 AM EZR- my dad lives about 30 miles out of near Vernal, if you plan to go up that way, on the way to Yellowstone, let me know and I'll get a schedule from him of nursing home gigs he does. He goes back and forth about twice a week and sometimes jams with others, too. He'll be 83 in May, so has slowed down a little bit. I just talked to him and he said there is a good guitar shop in SLC called Guitars, Inc. or somesuch; he knows it definitely has "guitar" in the name.**BG** If you're going to Yellowstone and decided to drop down to Denver on your way back, and you have time to get together, let me know, we're in Casper, WY. katlaughing |
Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: Jon W. Date: 14 Apr 00 - 10:52 AM I live in Murray, UT - a suburb of Salt Lake. I'll send you my e-mail address by personal message. See the discussion I posted this morning on a song circle I'm trying to organize - unfortunately it seems it will be too late for you this time around. The premier guitar shops in Salt Lake are Acoustic Music (857 E. 400 South) and Intermountain Guitar and Banjo (712 E. 100 South). Those addresses are within a few blocks of each other and I often go to one then the other when I get downtown during business hours. Have a good time in Salt Lake. |
Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: Easy Rider Date: 14 Apr 00 - 12:45 PM John W: I know Murray. My wife's cousin, Jeff, was living there, the last time we were out there, about ten years ago. |
Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 14 Apr 00 - 03:11 PM I know a great singer in Salt Lake City who lurks here at Mudcat all the time. He's a fine carpenter too---sort of a Mormon Nailer. (Can't recall his name though. Art---P.S. He's written a few books too ! |
Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: Jon W. Date: 14 Apr 00 - 04:23 PM Art, that pun was sooo bad I didn't even get it for about five seconds. If you think of your friend's name, I'd be interested to hear it. Easy R, here's a link to the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association website. Click on the "Event Calendar" link to find some things to do while you're here. |

Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: Easy Rider Date: 20 Apr 00 - 02:52 PM Less than two hours till vacation starts. I hear it's gonna rain and snow, in Yellowstone, next week. I'm going anyway. Saturday I think I'm gonna check out guitar stores in SLC. Anybody wanna join me? Jon W? Who is Catfish Keith? He's at the Social Work Auditorium, on Saturday 4/22. Who is Leraine Horstmanshoff? She is at the Coffee Garden every Tuesday. What about Dead Goat Saloon? There seem to be a few open mic/song circle/jam sessions going on too. |
Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: Matt Woodbury/Mimosa Date: 20 Apr 00 - 05:53 PM Since you're going to Yellowstone, If you head through Jackson, WY on Friday night, there's a nice open mike night called Joe's Garage. It should be listed in the Jackson paper. Mimosa |
Subject: RE: BS: Salt Lake City Mudcatters From: Jon W. Date: 21 Apr 00 - 11:55 AM Catfish Keith is a blues revivalist - plays guitar and sings the blues in a Delta style. I havn't seen him in person. I may try and convince my wife to go to the concert. Leraine is a singer/songwriter - again I haven't seen her (seems she is fairly new to the scene) so don't know what she's like. The Dead Goat Saloon - I suspect you'd probably like it. Bit of trivia - it's where Nolan Bushnell (?) first test marketed the "Pong" video game before he created Atari. That was a looong time ago. Guitar shops - give me a call and we'll see if we can work it out. I don't know if you'll be able to get this on the road though. Jon W. |
