I've heard there is a song, don't know the name, but it talks about the battle of Walker's Creek, where about 150 Texas Rangers fought about 1000 Comanches. The tune is a traditional Irish (?) tune.

Michael Martin Murphy recorded a song that sounds like the one you're looking for on his "Cowboy Songs" album. It's called sinply, "Texas Rangers." I don't have the lyrics written down but i could listen to it and copy them down if you like. It might take me a day or two though.

Found the song, was a few days ago, learned about the search feature here! This is a GREAT site for songs! Also found La Cucaracha! I'm in the process of teaching Russians about Texas! This site helps!
