Subject: Hammell On Trial From: GUEST,Mrbisok@aol Date: 04 May 00 - 08:39 PM OK< get ready for this: a Woody Guthrie/Bob Dylan type recitation about race in USA with musical refrain. He calls himself Hammell on Trial, The CD (out of print) is called "Big as Life" and the l0 minute number is called "Big as Life," life here refering to Life Magazine. Here's the end of the talking/recitation part, with rapid guitar chords accompanying: "Roger Manning said something about hatred can be any color, But as I look around this whole world Not just this room tonite, But on this side of city, that side of the city this city, that city, this state, that state It's blue, baby blue, that's the color we've all got." Now is that is that great, or what? Anybody ever heard of "Hammell on Trial"? |
Subject: RE: Hammel On Trial From: dwditty Date: 04 May 00 - 10:32 PM I used to subscribe to a CD/magazine publicationcalled Leak that issued a CD every qarter with a magazine describing the new artists on it. One of the CDs had a song called Brother Franklin that I believe was done by Hammel on Trial. As I recall, the guy was a pizza delivery guy by trade and played music on the side. I see if I can dig up the article. DW |

Subject: RE: Hammel On Trial From: Wesley S Date: 05 May 00 - 10:17 AM Acoustic Guitar magazine had an article about him a year or so back. At least one of his songs was transcribed also. You might find some more info at www.acousticguitar.com. I'm pretty sure thats the website address. |
