and the Brits would hang me for a Fenian so

Scraps of this song have been going through my head since a friend sang it, who was shy on the words half the time... the chorus is we are all going down to Dixie Land.

The title is simply, "Dixieland." It was written by Steve Earle.

It appears on the CD Steve did with Del McCoury and his band a year or two ago, called, "The Mountain."

We do it in D, but play Cherokee Shuffle on the fiddle in A, once through, before and after. Makes a nice "frame" for it.
