Subject: Canadian Folkie Seeks Nearby Gigs From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 02 Jun 00 - 02:09 PM The wife was just turned down for O.S.A.P. for some stupid reason, so I gotta get somethign going on here... And this is all I know how to do... I can offer a solo show or I have a great 4 piece band in the Windsor area... we're/I'm looking for gigs in the area but we/I want to stay on the north side of the border so as not to have to screw around with the damn border... The material we have to offer is a diverse mix of contemporary Canadian folk covers, some "pubbish" trad stuff, and some other stuff that doesn't really fit in anywhere.... I/We am/are demo-less for now but with any luck that may change in the near future... Anyone got any good leads?? So Broke It Hurts {~` |

Subject: RE: Help: Canadian Folkie Seeks Nearby Gigs From: katlaughing Date: 02 Jun 00 - 04:02 PM Suggestion....get a free website going, where you can upload photos and audio files. That way, when you contact a venue, you can give them a web addy to check out. There are several out there which are easy to do, using their templates. Check out www.elance.com, www.guru.com, or, https://shops.looksmart.com/cgi-bin/Provisioningstore.storefront/EN/catalog/1001. Yes, they are geared more towards business services or retail stuff, BUT they also offer websites, etc., free. I would recommend the last one (looksmart shops) first for your purposes. Good luck, again, kat |

Subject: RE: Help: Canadian Folkie Seeks Nearby Gigs From: sophocleese Date: 02 Jun 00 - 05:18 PM OSAP - Ontario Student Assistance Program. An easy way to get into to debt for your education, but still better than not getting the degree you may need or want, to pay it all back. |
Subject: RE: Help: Canadian Folkie Seeks Nearby Gigs From: TerriM Date: 02 Jun 00 - 07:30 PM I am so sorry you are feeling the pinch, Clinton. Ever thought about spreading your musical net to the U.K? |
Subject: RE: Help: Canadian Folkie Seeks Nearby Gigs From: ceitagh Date: 02 Jun 00 - 07:38 PM I feel yer pain Clint....my friends and i have been debating how They (the powers that be) decide how much OSAP money goes to whom....We finally decided it has something to do with dice, cards, and entrails (or possibly wet noodles). There seems to be very little relation between need and amount. Good luck finding work....We've got a new Irish Pub opening up here in Brockville thats looking for live music, but the commute would be a bit much. |
Subject: RE: Help: Canadian Folkie Seeks Nearby Gigs From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 02 Jun 00 - 07:43 PM TerriM... The UK would be wicked awsome cool, but it's the commute that'd kill me!! LOL!!! ceitagh... Brockville eh?!?! Not too bad... If only gas wasn't at 76.9!!!
Ya never know what the future might hold eh?? {~` |
