Subject: Sheet music to Blackest Crow or Time Draws.. From: trein@iglou.com Date: 13 Jul 97 - 11:49 AM Hello! I'm looking for the sheet music to an American (I think) traditional waltz called "The Blackest Crow," also known as "The Time Draws Near." Can anyone supply this or suggest sites I might try? Thanks! --Tony (Cincinnati) |

From: ms895@poppa.fab.albany.edu Date: 21 Jul 97 - 01:38 PM Tony, Doubt if there is any sheet music for The Blackest Crow, but I would suggest you get a copy of an album of Tommy Jarrell (don't remember which one has it, but the folks at County Records in Floyd, Va could tell you). Also I believe Brad Leftwich also recorded it on one of his albums. Check with Merrimac or County on that one. Good luck. Mark |
Subject: Lyr Add: THE TIME DRAWS NEAR From: JB3 Date: 16 Aug 98 - 04:55 PM THE TIME DRAWS NEAR The time draws near, my dearest dear When you and I must part And no one knows the inner griefs Of my poor aching heart It's what I suffer for your sake The one I love most dear I wish that I could go with you Or you might tarry here
I wish my breast was made of glass
My dear old father's hard to leave
And when you're in some foreign land
The blackest crow that ever flew |
Subject: RE: Sheet music to Blackest Crow or Time Draws.. From: GUEST,tr47sc@yahoo.com Date: 04 Jul 01 - 10:39 PM 7/4/01 Tony, I have been searching everywhere I can think of for the sheet music for 'The Blackest Crow' also. No luck yet. Tim O'brien has an excellent ( best I've heard) rendition of the song on his CD ... 'Songs From The Mountain' from Howdy Skies Records. Tom |
Subject: RE: Sheet music to Blackest Crow or Time Draws.. From: Joy Bennett Date: 05 Jul 01 - 09:21 AM Bruce Molsky also does it -- and very well -- (i believe on his CD "Lost Boy" - which is wonderful all around.) Bruce got it from Tommy Jarrel. Bruce's website is here Joy |
Subject: RE: Sheet music to Blackest Crow or Time Draws.. From: Joy Bennett Date: 05 Jul 01 - 09:25 AM ok, very well is being a bit understated - Bruce does the finest rendition of the song I have ever heard -- and even better live. |
Subject: Lyr Add: THE BLACKEST CROW From: GUEST,Goody2Shz Date: 18 Jul 01 - 10:14 AM I have painstakingly scribed the words to this song by listening to it over and over and over again. I believe I have the words right...or, at least close enough. Once I figure out the chord progressions, I'll post them here.

Subject: RE: Sheet music to Blackest Crow or Time Draws.. From: GUEST,nubbin@hbeark.com Date: 01 Mar 04 - 05:33 PM I too have listened to this song about a zillion times, and was stumped on the line "tis but I suffer for your sake". I don't agree with the next to the last line that you've intrepreted. I believe it is "the elements will mourn" instead of yellow birds. nubbin. |
