If I were in LA sometime between Aug. 8 and 17 for a couple of days to see my mom--- where and when could the most of us get together, from as far away as would like to come?

And would someone have an autoharp with pickup and amp I could use so I don't have to lug my whole rig to play witcha?

I need to know so I can book a ticket to fly for the right dates! So c'mon!

I'd love to go down for a gathering, Susan, but Los Angeles is like another world to us in the north. It's easier for me to get to a Mudcat gathering on the East Coast, than it is for me to go to Los Angeles. My old boss would pay my way and my lodging, but then I'd have to do actual work down there for three weeks. I think I'm allergic to work...

I'm at Sacramento, Praise. I've got a guest room and an autoharp (without plugin), and YOU'RE ALWAYS WELCOME AT OUR HOUSE. The San Francisco Mudcatters like Dave Swan and BSeed haven't been online much. I wonder what happened to them.

If you could make it Labor Day Weekend you could come to the Fall Strawberry Music Festival in Yosemite.I think I've got Amos,Barky,and Daly talked into coming and it is a short distance from both LA and Sacramento. In fact I will be driving through Sacramento the week before the Festival.

Mbo, that trip you made a few months ago was just a beginning.Keep doing those every few weekends and you will find you really enjoy getting out.
Then your trips will start to become longer and longer and you will look for excuses to avoid staying home.
And you will ENJOY it.

Well here is the plan.

Arrive SF airport Aug. 9, afternoon, for a 3-hour layover at the airport, and if you want to sing there (LOL!!!), send me a message and I will send you flight number and time to find my gate! Sorry, no other SF time will be possible.

On to LA, til the 18th, except for the brief visit to San Diego to see friends over that weekend. So.... again, send me a message if you want to try to hook up in LA or SD.

It's definite. There will be at least two Mudcatters at the San Francisco airport singing their lil hearts out, on Wednesday August 9, between 2:22 PM when I arrive on United flight 61 and my departure at 5:44 PM, also United, flight 2223.

We'll be at one gate or the other, or page us!

Unless we are asked to leave! (Oy!)

Of course what you do after I leave is up to you!

Then on to LA and San Diego through Aug 18.

It looks like me and also Melani won't be able to be there because of work schedules. I first thought your stay would be a day or so. Most of the other local mudcatters are 9 to 5ers as well (Me, til 5:30.) Too bad. Wish I could make it. I hope someone can show.

No such ruck trying to re-ticket ahead of time like a sensible person.... unless I want to pay last-minute full-freight fare.... show up with all the other lemmings and take my chances.

My plan includes ordering wheelchair assistance. With health problems I have been having, I qualify, and I am sure they will not want to have a crabby chairbound lady on their hands any longer than absolutely necessary, especilly when I INSIST on repaying their courtesy with a free washboard concert. I also anticipate that the clacking of Therapeutic Claves can echo quite crisply in airport acoustics. And if that doesn't do it, the last resort-- sing reedy high soprano along with my Tom Waits tape.

Yeah. Better pray real hard.

Well, she made it to San Francisco OK, and on time, too. Her plane for Beautiful Downtown Burbank left late, so we had an extra hour. We had a very nice time, talking and singing at the San Francisco Airport. A guy sat down next to us and started talking on his cel phone. My instinct was that I shouldn't sing when somebody's talking on the phone, but I resisted. Since we were there first, I figured we could sing as much as we wanted to. I didn't notice anybody being disturbed. Thanks for coming, Susan.

Sounded like fun. Reminds me of playing in the Seattle airport last year with a group of Fiddlers on the way to Alaska. This music is sometimes really appreciated by passengers who are otherwise bored and anxious about flight delays. Those cell phones, though...

Wal, folkies, hyar's an update on the whereabouts of our peripatetic and peregrinacious Praise. We have spent two happy days wandering among the sights of San Diego including the blue waters of La Jolla and the tip of Cabrillo Point, and we did some very bad things which we will not reveal at any price! Additionally we also sat around at Amos and Daly and Barky's place just whanging out old songs by the hour. We took photos which will be posted in due course. Praise says:

"Only the presence of my family would have improved the experience!"

It was pretty smarmy, she adds, guffawing. But a fine time was had by all.

As for anything over Amos' head, RR, not much is, and what is, I try not to let on I am aware of!!!

I am back in LA now. Fam time is pretty solidly booked now for the rest of the week, but if you alreqady goit the number I am at, call me, you never know.

I am departing Friday, and I have a real short SF airport layover Friday, about 10:30 AM, about 45 minutes, assuming the Burbank hopper comes in with time to spare. So Sourdough, or anyone, find me there if you like, look for a big PA farm girl type in a red check dress, and glasses, lugging among other things a black vinyl gun case.

I shoulda packed something in there to make a notch for every Mudcat hug received. Duh!

Great, Praise, I found this at 10:24 local time. I can't get to thje airport in time although it seems I have been at that particular airport a lot in the past month (including day before yesterday).

I do hope that you had a good trip, deepened friendships and now are content to go home.

I do enjoy your perspective and your gentle (on screen, anyway, nature). I appreciate that you took the effort to try to arrange a meeting with us Bay Area MCs and hope some were able to make it to the gate.

So funny. Driving back from Chicago with Hardiman and out daughterling, Sunday and Monday, I kept looking for Biskit, and his distinctive eggplant-colored cab. At each rest stop, I'd jokingly call out, "Biskit! Where are ya man???" I was SURE he was out there, and that we might run into him at any moment.

Came home to find 3 phone messages-- he would be on that same route the day AFTER we actually got home. If we had just delayed our departure one more day, as we wished to, we'd have run into him at a rest stop I am sure!

Unfortnately we were not abe to link up with him today.

As we drove, I couldn't help noticing all the large metropolitan areas that appear to lack Mudcatters. We are too damn spread out for convenient travel. Cleveland! Erie! Jamestown NY! I'd have stopped there too!
