Subject: Tintagel Next Weekend From: Tone d' F Date: 30 Jul 00 - 01:49 AM Hi It's Gint, he who forgot his login details so picked an appropriate pseudonym. We are doing our annual dark age / medieval re-enactment at Tintagel, Cornwall, on the 4th, 5th & 6th the profits of which go to the Cornish Air Ambulance Any 'catter's who want to come along can either contact me at Laurie@eurolog.org or just turn up and ask for Laurie I will be in the bar (I'm the friar Tuck lookalike)selling beer, scrumpy & mead to innocent bystanders. We will have some folkies from Irland, Scotland etc. medieval music, pipers, a harpist and lots of singists (people who think they can sing after 3 pints of scrumpy) see you there |

Subject: RE: BS: Tintagel Next Weekend From: Shanti Date: 30 Jul 00 - 10:38 AM Wow! I envy you. Tintagel...how appropriate! How much is left of the actual castle? Wish I could be there, but like others, I'm in the US and can't get to Cornwall, for MANY reasons, most of which have to do with the lack of that awful green stuff. Ah...someday. Please tell us all about it when you return.

Subject: RE: BS: Tintagel Next Weekend From: Tone d' F Date: 31 Jul 00 - 02:30 PM All that's left is mostly foundations and tourists with the odd roosting pasty... sorry another story so as not to put stress on myself, I organised the building of racking for my trailer to hold 10 barrels of beer at a time I go in 18hrs and no racking, the guy who lives next door is missing presumed drunk Not a problem It will happen as I just picked up 30 cases of mead and 20 cases of wines & liqueurs and 33 gallons of cider, that's me sorted now for the band |
Subject: RE: BS: Tintagel Next Weekend From: Tone d' F Date: 10 Aug 00 - 06:19 PM The show went well and early figures put the tally at about £2,500 for the Cornish Air Ambulance. One of the highlights of the show was Runock (spelt wrongly) who for those of you who saw the film Gladiator was the large Celtic barbarian, on the Saturday night came in to the beer tent with pipes & drums it was a brilliant hour and half of feet stomping roof raising sheer magic. The next morning I as they left the site they were cheered by the whole of the re-enactors, something I have not seen in far too many years in the hobby. Special thanks to Chloe for the harp and great tunes and to Ferret for not singing, even jon_a was allowed out to play For those that could not make it, better luck next year remember always the 1st clear weekend in August every year. I am looking at setting up a show near Faversham next year mmmm Folkestone Folk Festival ? |
