Subject: Yorkshire Gathering From: bill\sables Date: 01 Aug 00 - 05:29 AM As you probably all know Dick Greenhaus and Susan of DT are coming to England for Whitby. Susan and Dick are the people responsible for the Digital Tradition, (Mudcat's Song database) There will be a gathering of catters at the Jug Inn Chapel Haddlesey near Selby on Thursday 17th August with Susan and Dick as special guests. As this is the thursday before Whitby perhaps other catters from outside Yorkshire would like to drop in as a break in their journey to Whitby. The Jug serves good food and offers free camping in their garden for any catters who would like to stay overnight. It is a real ale pub as well. Please try to get along to thank Dick and Susan for a great database. Cheers Bill |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: GUEST,Wullie Date: 01 Aug 00 - 03:28 PM I'll Try and get there, though I have the same problem as Pat Might stay the night though if I get there. Wullie |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 01 Aug 00 - 08:45 PM I'm hoping to get there, too. The train from Sheffield to Selby looks easy enough; how to get from there to The Jug is so far a mystery. Is there a bus, or is a cab a better idea? It will certainly be necessary to stay the night somewhere or other, as the trains finish quite early. I'll watch this thread... Malcolm |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Catlin Date: 02 Aug 00 - 06:01 AM We're in Barnsley near Sheffield.... a train journey and we are there? I'll see if I can get the money. It would be lovely to meet some vaguely local Mudcatters :) *Hugs* Catlin |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Tig Date: 02 Aug 00 - 06:07 AM Not another night of enjoying ourselves at Syds? Ah well, one must suffer it. You'll need to catch the 405 to Doncaster from Selby and ask for Chapel Haddesley crossroads. You can see the pub down on the left (coming from Selby). I'll check tonight to see if there are any other bus services. Be warned, they aren't very frequent, especially at night.

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Catrin Date: 02 Aug 00 - 06:17 AM Noreen and I are thinking of drving up from Manchester for the evening. A few practicalities to sort out - but we'll try our damndest! Catrin P.S. (Thread drift!) Catlin, with a name similar to mine in every respect but one, does that mean our personalities will be equally similar?). hmmmm, I wonder. The joys of Mudcat. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: bill\sables Date: 02 Aug 00 - 06:20 AM If you get to Selby just ring the JUG and someone will come and get you |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: bill\sables Date: 04 Aug 00 - 12:16 PM refresh |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Ringer Date: 04 Aug 00 - 12:59 PM Look, I'm coming from Chesterfield, and have already said I'll pick up Patrish. To come via Sheffield is no prob - I can offer the other 3 seats in the car (but I'm returning Thursday eve, not staying). Any takers? Probably won't see any replies till Monday (I access from work): first 3 get seats. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 04 Aug 00 - 01:48 PM If you can fit me in that would be great. Malcolm |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: bill\sables Date: 07 Aug 00 - 07:23 PM For anyone who is hoping to get to the Jug here is the directions; Get onto the M62 from wherever you are and take exit A19 Doncaster to Selby (If you are traveling Eastward this is the junction after the A1) At the junction head North to Selby on the A19 after about a mile you come to a roundabout, go straight over still on the A19, you will pass a power station on your right then look out for a bridge with a lot of slow down signs. When you cross this bridge slow down and indicate right, there is a garage and then a right turn . The jug is about 50 yards on your right after the turn. The distance from the M62 to the Jug is about 3 miles. Looking forward to seeing you there. Cheers Bill |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Ringer Date: 08 Aug 00 - 05:59 AM Bill: just trying to plan. Does the Jug observe strict licensing laws so that we're likely to be on the road home by about 11.30, or does it take a certain ... er ... relaxed attitude, implying we might be somewhat later? |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Skipjack K8 Date: 08 Aug 00 - 09:25 AM I'll come over from Leeds after work and set up base camp in the pub garden. Will someone give me a shout in the morning? Malcolm, if you PM me, I'll revert with my moby number and skirt round by Selby and pick you up. I think Eric the Viking is still pillaging in Holland, but I'm a wundrin how you're going to fit all these bodies in such a small bar, Bill. If you banned melodeon players, perhaps ....... Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Susan of DT Date: 08 Aug 00 - 08:36 PM We look forward to meeting you all. We leave in under 36 hours now. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Skipjack K8 Date: 09 Aug 00 - 06:46 AM Susan, prepare for Digital Tradition to descend into Delirium Tremens! We look forward to greeting you. Skipjack |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: bill\sables Date: 13 Aug 00 - 05:06 AM Bald Eagle, I can't disclose Syd'd hours on the net but if they were legal I would. It is a small pub but it is very friendly and any instruments are welcome except perhaps a grand piano. If you get there early and need a meal beware of the large mixed grill unless you are the size of Big Mick or Big Phil. but you could always have the leftovers for picnics at Whitby |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Mrs.Duck Date: 14 Aug 00 - 03:24 PM Syd-licensing laws-no, I don't remember ever hearing those two things in the same sentence!!!I think I might stay overnight anyway even if we are only a few miles away-afterall a drop of 'Just 4 U won't do us any harm'! See you all on Thursday. Mrs D. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Big Phil Date: 14 Aug 00 - 05:51 PM Yes I can recommend the mixed Gorilla.. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Noreen Date: 14 Aug 00 - 07:08 PM Sorry Bill, me and the grand piano will be unable to attend, since on Thursday we will be giving my father-in-law his final send-off. Have a wonderful evening and I hope to meet you all on another ocasion. Noreen |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: GUEST,Flaj Date: 17 Aug 00 - 06:01 PM Sorry I couldn't make it Bill, Mummy doesn't allow me to "play" out more than once a week. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: roopoo Date: 18 Aug 00 - 02:16 AM I got back from the gathering just over 6 hours ago - already the village street is humming to the happy sounds of people driving to work. I hope Skipjack managed to crawl into his tent ok, he's got to be up in less than an hour! I'll be back round there in a couple of hours to pick up the SO's hire car which he parked outside after arriving back to the Jug from central Siberia at 11pm and then downing several pints. If he's still there I'll give him a kick! I'd like to thank Dick and Susan for being such good company and just downright nice people. Bill will be sure to be posting a blow-by-blow account of the evening. He certainly was sticking that camera in a lot of places! It was great to put names to so many faces too. See you tomorrow or thereabouts at Whitby. mouldy |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Skipjack K8 Date: 18 Aug 00 - 03:39 AM Aaaaagh, me head!!! Evacuated the tent racked with cramp at 7.11am, Andrea, to a beautiful autumn Yorkshire morning, 12 degrees, a covering of dew, and Eggborough power station gently strumming the other side of the river. Made it into the office shower before 8, so at work in Leeds early for a change. What was in that beer? And how much was there? Reet grand meeting Dick & Susan. Hope to raft up with you again in Whitby next week. Good call, Bill. Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Catrin Date: 18 Aug 00 - 05:27 AM I'm so sorry I couldn't make it. I was all set for coming but als! At the final hour events conspired to prevent me. Stubborn car, argument with SO.... need I say more. Glad to hear it all went so well for you all. This has made me even more determined to get to the welsh gathering! Catrin |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: GUEST Date: 18 Aug 00 - 01:04 PM After a cracking do last night words cannot express the spirit of the night. We are now looking forward to Whitby Folk Week and more importantly Mrs Ducks barbie on Thursday. So be there or be a christmes pud. Keith |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering From: Mrs.Duck Date: 18 Aug 00 - 01:22 PM skipjack I'm surprised you could even walk never mind work. As for how much beer there was let's just say there was significantly less by the end of the night. Great though wasn't it Hope to see lots of you in Whitby-the barbeque is scheduled for Thursday and I will be posting more info in the Tap although actual details will be from one of us for obvious reasons. See you all |
