Yo, maybe you could share some of it with us? I went to the DT where it is listed, but when I clicked on it to read it, I got the "sorry, no documents match" message. I will send Dick Greenhaus a message about the glitch, but as he and Susan are in England at the moment, I don't think it will get fixed anytime soon.

Thanks,

kat

K Kat, Uhm, where should I start? I guess you should hear it yourself to realy get the feeling. My wife's mother past away not to long ago, and it hurts me the most that my kids will never see her again. Venice sings about that eventhough we have pain, she will always live through my sons. That moves me, a lot. Yo.

Well, Yo, it sounds like a very beautiful song with a lot of revelance for many of us. Do you have the lyrics which you could post? If you are unsure of how to put the line breaks in, please look in the first thread, the Teal Permathread called Mudcat FAQ - Newcomer's Guide, for instructions.

The other thing you could do, if you have the equipment, is to go look at Alice's thread called Driveway.com and sharing music. You may be able to put it on that site, in audio, then put a link in here, so that we could go access it and listen.

One more thing would be to come into HearMe sometime and sing it for us:-)

I am sorry for your recent loss...I know what you mean..my kids haven't see my dad in years and probably will not have a chance to before he passes on. It makes me very sad sometimes to realise that.

Thanks and I hope this helps,

kat

It helps Kat. Don't no how to say this right, but I feel sorry for you and your kids too.

I don't have the stuff or the experience to do all the things you mentioned. But I think I could try and post the lyrics. Linebreaks? Ah well, I'll read the thread ... Yo.

Don't know how to do the clicky thing (yet), I'm to inpatient to learn I guess. At least here's Venice and The Family Tree. Yo.

Thank you very much, Yo. Here is a BLUE CLICKY THING

One good thing about my dad and my kids; he made a family history tape a few years ago and also does music tapes often and they each get a copy of those. Kind of helps them all keep in touch that way.

I will check this song out in a ittle bit. Have to get lunch on...a little late!

If you ever want any help on joining us in HearMe or whatever, just holler and one of us will try to work it out. HearMe doesn'tt ake muhc, if you have a sound card in your computer, which you do, if you listen to music on it, you can come into HearMe and listen and visit on the chat text AND if you have a micophone, you can favour us with a song, or a visit, or a poem, or whatever you are comfortable with. AT one point we were all newbies to the Mudcta, the Internet, and HearMe:-)

Thanks a bunch,

kat

kat, I went and looked at it, and Yo is spot on!! It is a wonderful song, especially right now for me. This latest one was on "God's Time", so it is not too hard, but it seems like my friends are just dropping like flies lately. Oh, you do have to scroll down the left side frame a ways to find the right song, tho.

Wow, really nice harmony. I didn't get to hear all of it because net congestion showed up big time, but I will go back.

Thanks, Sorcha and thank you, Yo, the words are beautiful and very close to home. I've sent them on to my sister. We lost our mom a year and a half ago.

Sorcha, honey, have you thought of picking friends closer to your own age? **BG** Ah, forgive me, darlin', just trying for a smile amidst the sadness. I know the old ones are precious and have so much to teach. Wyoming does seem to have a prepondernace of those types. I am saddened everytime I read the obituaries because I invariably see another one gone who must have had treaure houses full of stories to tell of the early days.

Nice thread, Yo, thanks again.

kat

No, thank YOU guys. It's a tough subject, but the older we get, the more loved ones we loose. (normaly I'm not this soft!!) (I'm realy a tough guy!) I sang this song to a friend once, at least I tried. We both ended up crying, wich is a good thing ofcourse. Sometimes I just need that, that's when I play (or sing) that Venice song. Sorcha, for some "friends" it';s difficult too I guess. And some other friends are truly worth something at such times. So, maybe you don't loose friends, they might just not know how to handle this. I don't know, just thinking out loud. Johan.

I have learned over the years, that usually I am feeling sorry for me when this happens. Not when we lose the little ones, though. My mom and dad, my friend Peter who died this past Wed., were all ready to go on, and needed to go on. I am just left behind, and have/need to carry on here for a while. It is the children that have to leave that really break my heart.

Three years ago, starting on St. Patricks Day, this small town of 5,000 lost 8 children under 15 in 18 months. We knew ALL of them quite well, and day before yesterday an 18 year old young man committed suicide, with a .22. What KIND of desperation would drive a person at the Summertime of his life to do such a thing to himself, his family and friends. We were acquainted with him but did not know him well--ie, was not a close friend of our kids. Thank Gods. I am not sure I can lose another close one for a little while, anyway.

Then, I remember the Words of Wisdom out of my daughter's mouth when she was 4, and my Dad died. She MADE us go to the mortuary at 10PM the nite he died because she HAD to SEE her Granpa. (He was not prepped or anything, just covered with a sheet.) We lifted her up, and uncovered his face-------she said...without a tear "Oh! There is nobody home! NOW I understand!" I will NEVER forget those words out of the mouth of a babe.

Well, we might as well post the lyrics to make it easy for everybody to see. I don't believe this song is in the database. The "Family Tree" we have is by Tom Chapin and friends. Sound clip of Venice's "Family Tree" is available here (click).

The Family Tree
Michael Lennon, John Vester,
Kipp Lennon, Mark Lennon

Branches in the wind
Still standing here together
One more storm to weather
We'll get through it yet
So we're gathered here
Holding on to each other
To let go of another one we won't forget

Now as we say goodbye
To one of our own
We may be lonely
But we're not alone
Though the leaves will fall
And the tears will flow
May it always comfort us to know
The family tree will always grow

Father down to son Mother to daughter
Thicker than water We are made of this

From the Earth we rise
To the Earth returning
We'll keep a candle burning
For the ones we'll miss

And when we say goodbye
To one of our own
We may be lonely
But we're not alone
Though the leaves will fall
And the tears will flow
May it always comfort us to know
The family tree will always grow
It's stronger than the wind can blow
The family tree will always grow

Thanks Joe, this way it's a lot easier. And Sorcha, it's true that kids can help us a lot in difficult times. They seem to just except the facts as they come. My kids have no problem at all with Grandma living in heaven now. It's good to hear that these things help other people trough too. Sometimes I'm afraid of dying myself, but this song helps me to know that I will live trough my sons. That makes me more at peace with it.

Yo.
