Subject: Lyr Add: CAN WE GO HOME NOW? (The Roches) From: Jim Dixon Date: 27 Aug 13 - 09:22 AM I copied these lyrics from The Roches' web site. (It's a good thing I found them; I would not have been able to distinguish "sea 'n' stars" from "seein' stars", which makes a kind of sense to me.) But I added the repeated lines "can we go home now" at the end, to correspond with what I hear in the recording. CAN WE GO HOME NOW As sung by The Roches on "Can We Go Home Now" (1995) woke up alone in a strange bed lookin' around shaking my head pulled my boots on went downstairs she was sitting in one of the chairs can we go home now was what I said she looked at me and said we are home matter with you I nearly forgot the difference between what is and what's not plenty of sky castles of sand sea 'n' stars busted my hand can we go home now I've had enough she looked at me and said tough luck suck watchin' TV the whole day through bough bending low with nothin' to do sun gone down the railroad track breathing a cry when she comes back can we go home now I wanna go home she looked away and said please stay can we go home now can we go home now can we go home now can we go home now can we go home now can we go home now can we go home now can we go home now [fade] |
Subject: RE: Help: Can we go home now? From: LR Mole Date: 25 Aug 00 - 11:23 AM Oh, y'all, check it out. I've got everything they ever cut. Started today reading about the Everlys and here I am again: there's something about siblings locking onto a chord that's just hair-raisingly joyful. And so sad, sometimes. |
Subject: RE: Help: Can we go home now? From: Brendy Date: 25 Aug 00 - 07:39 AM Yo. If not, you can order it here, or here. These are American sites, I would imagine, but I'm sure if you ask your local record shop, they'd order it for you. All the best. B. |
Subject: RE: Help: Can we go home now? From: GUEST,Michael in Swansea Date: 25 Aug 00 - 07:28 AM Brendy, I'd not heard of The Roches before, they seem to have been around for sometime, but if that one track is typical of them then I've certainly been missing out. OK it's lunchtime and raining and I'm coatless so I don't think I shall venture into town in search of CD, instead I shall peruse the Mudcat record shop and see if it's there. Once again thanks, M |
Subject: RE: Help: Can we go home now? From: Brendy Date: 25 Aug 00 - 06:02 AM I hadn't heard of it at all, Michael, before you asked. After checking the DT, I just did a search, and it was about 8 or 9 pages 'in' (if you know what I mean). I know of The Roches, alright. But that was just coincidence. Hope it's the right one. B. |
Subject: RE: Help: Can we go home now? From: GUEST,Michael in Swansea Date: 25 Aug 00 - 05:56 AM Brendy, from what I remember it certainly sounds like it. You're magic! May you always walk in sunshine. What's the rest of the album like? Doesn't really matter, it's an hour and a half to lunchtime, see if it's in town anywhere. Thanks muchly LOL Michael |

Subject: Can we go home now? From: GUEST,Michael in Swansea Date: 25 Aug 00 - 04:33 AM Yesterday evening I had a lift home with a neighbour and over the radio came the most muchly wondrous haunting song, I think it was called "Can we go home now" I hadn't heard it before. Is it new? A female singer, didn't catch the name, but I believe the man on the radio said she was Canadian. Before I pester the radio station for info I thought I'd give you 'catters the chance to come up with the goods. Any ideas anyone, pleeeeeeease? Diolch Michael |
