Not having a lot of luck with Ghost of Meadowland County. So let's try another. This is an old Gospel Song. It was done, I've been told by Carl Story & also I believe Jim & Jesse may have done it. I believe the chorus contains the words, "There's some lessons I must learn, there's some bridges I must burn..."

Thanks,

Randall

OOPS!! After searching around for quite some time for these lyrics on other sites, & not finding them, I checked a tape & CD site & I'm afraid I may have inadvertantly confused two different songs. One is "There's A Light At The River," and the other is "Let The Light Shine Down." Can ANYONE help me with they lyrics to either of these songs. I vaguely remember hearing them when I used to live in Western NC. I would REALLY like to become reacquainted with EITHER of BOTH of them.

Thanks,

Randall

I don't have time at the moment to post them, but MAY be able to on the weekend. In the meantime, for those who might want to transcribe them before then, look on The Chestnut Grove Quartet, County CD 2709 for Light At The River, and look on Let The Light Shine Down by The Country Gentlemen, Rebel CD 1675 for (obviously) Let The Light Shine Down. Maybe not the only two choices, but two excellent ones, anyway.

OK, GUEST,RANDALL, here it is:

LIGHT AT THE RIVER
By Carl Story

1
There's a deep solid river flowin' just before
And its waters are deep and wide
But fate sees a light
Yes, a beckoning light
Just down by the riverside.

CHORUS: There's a light at the river,
A light at the river.
There's a light at the river I can see.
My Lord will stand
And hold in his hand
A light at the river for me.

2
To that deep solid river
We will one day come,
And we'll cross over waters wide,
But they'll carry us away
To the reams of day
To our homes on the other side.

3
Many dear ones have gathered
Safe before the throne.
Dip their wings in the mystic tide.
They are passed over deep
Where they do not weep
To their homes on the other side.
^^

OK Randall, have a good day.
You will once you start to sing this song. It will stay with you all day! One of our favorites to perform at gospel concerts!
Best wishes
Chuck Hemrick, The Hemrick Family Singers
aka..TAR_HEEL

Sorry, Chuck, haven't had a chance to get back to the computer. I really do apprecicate you posting the words for me. It's been a long time, but I'm sure I will enjoy getting reacquainted with this song. If you wouldn't mind responding again, either here or to my E-mail, where are you located in NC? Do you ever do any Gospel concerts in the Charlotte area or over into SC?

Thanks again.

Randall

OK, Chuck, I'll have to get out my map & see if I can find Rural Hall, NC. I've lived in Wake Forest, Belmont, & Fallston, NC at one time or another, so I've been reasonably close at some point in time.

Take care.

OK, thanks to Chuck, that's one out of two. Can anyone help me with "Let Your Light Shine Down?" The chorus is something like,

"Let your light shine down, let your light shine down, let your light shine down so I can see. There's some bridges I must burn, there's some lessons I must learn. Let your light shine down on me."

At least, I think that's pretty close. Can anyone help with the rest of it?

Thanks, Chuck, for your E-mail.

Thanks, Dale for your reply. Can you give me a URL where I can look at/order the tapes your referenced earlier?

Thanks,

Randall

Sorry that I have not posted the lyrics. Sometimes my CDs seem to have a will of their own ~~ they put themselves in places that I cannot find them. I will look again later, when things slow down around here.

About the links, I suspect that you can get them easily right here at Mudcat/Camsco. I did find sound files for both albums at CdNow. Chestnut Grove Quartet and Country Gentlemen ~~ Light At The River

Hi Dale, and thanks a lot for the two links. They were very helpful. I may have to see about placing an order when the "Signs" get right. No, not the astrological signs, the dollar signs! ($). I know about things having a mind of their own & hiding from us. Happens to me all the time. I appreciate your efforts, tho.

Take care.

Randall
