Subject: A Christy Moore song, I think. From: GUEST,jambell100@hotmail.com Date: 05 Sep 00 - 03:09 PM There's this song that i heard on the radio, that i think belongs to Christy Moore. The chorus had something to do with 'heal to the toe, round and round and round we go, and dancing in pale moon light/glow. It was a magical story, there was love, and ... If anyone had an idea, I would apreciate the help. Thanks. Josh |

Subject: RE: Help: A Christy Moore song, I think. From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 05 Sep 00 - 03:42 PM Wonderfully Sung by Christy Moore but probably written by someone else, he is a great interpreter of other peoples songs . Definitely on one of the 'Collection', Cds probably the first one. This is really annoying me know as I am not at home and so can't put my hand on the CD. I do have in my hand the Video 'Christy' which mentions 'The Reel in the flickering Light' on the cover. |

Subject: RE: Help: A Christy Moore song, I think. From: GUEST,JTT Date: 05 Sep 00 - 07:14 PM Unless it's Mairi's Wedding, a Scottish song where they do a lot of heel-to-heel-and-toe-to-toe stuff. Unlike Irish dancing, where it's Cailini treasna srón le srón; Buacailli treasna tón le tón. But that's another story. |
Subject: RE: Help: A Christy Moore song, I think. From: Brendy Date: 05 Sep 00 - 07:17 PM It's 'The Flickering light', all right. I'll try and hunt out the words somewhere. I haven't checked the links above yet, but I will. B. |

From: Brendy Date: 05 Sep 00 - 07:28 PM As wildlone has said, the Christy Moore site seems to be down at the minute, but the lyrics are available there at this page: www.christymoore.net/lyrics/reel.html I can't imagine that the site will be down for too long. So just keep trying. B. |
Subject: Lyr Add: REEL IN THE FLICKERING LIGHT (C Gallagher From: Jon Freeman Date: 05 Sep 00 - 07:43 PM I still can't get into that site. Have done a search and found this: The Reel in the Flickering Light by Christy Moore
As I was walking home one evenin'
A poor old dove and a worm in the weed
Oh round we go, heel to the toe
On his thin and wispy spindles
And the rats and worms they made a din
Oh round we go, heel to the toe
Then he looked at me directly
"Oh God almighty" says I to him
So round we go, heel to the toe
Says he:
And the rats and the worms began in to laugh
Oh round we go, heel to the toe
I could see he had no scruples
I said "I'll get her right away"
Oh round we go, heel to the toe
Then up stepped a red carnation
And the wise old pigeon peeled his eye.
Oh round we go, heel to the toe
She was gentle, she was charmin'
And the rats and worms were still as mice
Oh round we go, heel to the toe
Oh round we go, heel to the toe Jon
