Hi, Can anyone tell me where I might get a CD of a duo from the 60's(?) called Frasier and (Daisy) DeBolt. Thanks, Tom TomLori@web4.net

I have their first LP (with Ian Gunther) and the one they did with the band (Frazier & DeBolt with Pleasure) and would also be glad to tape them for you. I also have a CD of Daisy DeBolt that is relatively new

Please let us know how your interest in them got sparked. I saw them a number of times while in college and was hooked from the start. I have mentioned before in this forum how great their influence has been on me and would like to hear someone else's story.

Bart

Hi Bart, My wife and I were talking to a producer (my wife and I are a singing duo) and he was suggesting that we listen to Frasier and DeBolt...he was very impressed with them. He didn't know a source for their recordings, so I thought I would try Mudcat. I would really appreciate tapes...what could I send you for your trouble? Tom (TomLori@web4.net)

The Fraser & DeBolt albums from the 1970s have never been reissued on CD. Daisy DeBolt has a couple of solo CDs out though.

Allan Fraser still lives here in Montreal and I hear from him from time to time. He's still writing songs and performing occasionally.

I have been a F&D fan from 1971 when there first LP came out. It's hard to believe it's been 37 years. Check out the F&D web site at http://fraserdebolt.com. One can find both there LPs on ebay every once in a while. It's really a shame that there LPs have not been released on CD. It is my understanding that Columbia Records, now owned by Sony will not release the albums on CD, nor will they sell the master tapes so someone else can release them on CD. I heard a rumor that an import had been released. I just checked Amazon and they had it for sale. Before I bought it I would contact either Daisy or Allan to see if they get any thing from the sale.

Their recordings were certainly hard to forget.

Who else has ever recorded something akin to "Armstrong Tourist Rest Home"?

Cheerily,

I would suggest that some useful Mudcat-power-that-be change the spelling of Frasier to Fraser in the subject line of this thread so that it may be correctly indexed.

BTW I have digitized both their albums to CD, if anyone would like a copy PM me.

Dear Bob,
I would be very interested in the album with DHG and TRAB. When a young nab in the early 70's my friend and I met a family in norther NY living in the woods in a cabin. We were hitch hiking and making our way playing music. After that we did both of these songs.

I first heard their records in the mid-70's and have wished ever since they'd record some more. I still routinely sing "This Storm Shall Surely Pass," "Warmth," and "The Waltz of the Tennis Players." There are others I'd have learned if I hadn't split up with the record's owner. Among them, "Cleo's Couch." Other titles escape me. Which record was that?

It's a trip down memory lane as I try to articulate what F&D's influence on me was; I suppose the greatest impacts were the raw emotion that comes through, especially from Daisy, and the play of their voices together and against one another. That kind of singing takes either immense professionalism or great instincts, or maybe both.

Thanks for bringing them to mind. I've been singing mostly a cappella for a while and don't get out my guitar as often as I used to do. It's rainy today, a good day to see if I have any vestiges remaining of those fingertip calluses...

~CH.

Daisy plays in the Peterborough area. The last time I saw her was at the Willie P. Bennett memorial show at Hugh's Room about a year ago.
Allan played at Cobourg's Folk At The Forum series about 20 years ago. I remember he was playing a Goya Goliath guitar from the early sixties.

Guest, they are not for sale, my offer was as a favour to other Mudcat members. Seeing as how you are not a member, you do not qualify. I have heard somewhere that at least one of the albums was going to be made available in CD format, if you search around you may find more information about this.

My wife ran discs in the library at the University in Laramie way back when and found their music. With Pleasure is the one we were so fond of. I just emailed her abou the info I found today, so I'm sure she will be glad to know their is news. She'll be reporting on her experience as soon as she gets to feeling better.
